I've always liked his spirit energy overpowering his demon energy in this fight. As if to say he's stronger as human than he is as a demon. After an arc of learning about his background, traveling between worlds, wondering where his place is, this kinda gives us a metaphorical answer on top of the real answer.

2025-07-07 20:26:27 +0000 UTCYusuke saying "I don't know what I'm fighting for anymore" is very reminiscent of Hiei proclaiming that he was ready to "end his journey". Hiei was definitely suicidal and Yusuke didn't seem far from it as well. I feel like another way of interpreting Yusuke's statement is "I don't know what I'm living for anymore". This arc has its issues but the care they put into these characters are amazing. This aspect of the arc helped me appreciate this arc a lot more over the years.
