Kamehameha would take too long for Krillin to learn now. And you will see resutls of their training. Roshi would teach them fighting, but for Goku his grandpa did that and Krillin learned it in his temple. Turtle school is "basics and mid-advanced techniques using superior speed , aglity and strength. Plus having endurance to be able to keep fighting.

Often, ignoring the narrator is ignoring exposition. Also, the Wolf Fang Fist is a move set rather than a specific move. Not a full fighting style like Karate or JuJitSu, but more than a single action like the Recome Kick.
