Lelouch used his Geass to command Suzaku to live. So when Euphemia told him to do so it fulfilled the condition for the Geass to activate again. Most of Lelouch's commands are specific, so they only show to work once. If he worded his commands better, he could probably have more control than he has shown so far. Like how he had that girl at the start of the series write on the wall multiple days in a row to test the limit of his power.
