[D.C] Ch 9: Drunk Werewolf Bete

Right now, the Loki Familia was planning an expedition into the Dungeon.
In the original story, after they returned from a deep dive to the 59th floor, Bete, Tione, Tiona, and Ais all reached Level 6.
As for now? They were all still at Level 5.
At this moment—
The very drunk Bete, looking like a heap of useless mush, staggered over and slapped Klaus twice on the shoulder.
To outsiders, it looked like a friendly gesture between old buddies catching up.
There wasn't even a hint of hostility.
"Oh man… no fight, I guess." xN
For a moment, the onlookers who had been watching with anticipation just sighed and shook their heads in disappointment.
Talk about a letdown.
They'd been hoping the infamous Mad Wolf of the Loki Familia would start something after getting drunk...
That maybe he'd pick a fight with a low-level adventurer or cause a scene.
But nope.
The guy wasn't doing anything remotely dramatic.
Now if Bete had picked a fight, that would've been something to watch.
Catman Allen raised an eyebrow. He wasn't quite sure what was going on, so he stayed silent and continued observing.
Across from Klaus sat Syr, who looked surprised.
She covered her mouth with one hand, her eyes filled with disbelief.
Syr had no idea what kind of relationship this mad wolf had with Klaus.
This time, Klaus didn't avoid conflict or try to play nice.
Instead, he swatted Bete's hand off his shoulder and said coldly: "You looking for a fight?"
"I don't even know you."
In the anime, Bell, Liliruca, and Welf had been eating in a tavern when a bunch of smug Apollo Familia members picked a fight with them.
The two Familias ended up brawling right there in the bar!
That conflict ended up lighting the fuse that led to the War Game between the Hestia and Apollo Familias — an all-out battle that captivated the whole city.
And now? Wasn't this shaping up exactly like that scene?
Only this time, it wasn't the Apollo Familia but the Loki Familia!
The stakes had suddenly gotten very real.
Even though Klaus was still Level 1 and hadn't even officially registered as an adventurer, the cold aura in his eyes made people around him think—
This guy might be on par with a first-rate adventurer.
Bete just laughed loudly.
"Hahaha!"
Klaus couldn't tell if the guy was really drunk or just messing around.
But then…
Bete's next words caught him completely off guard.
"Are you in a Familia?"
"If not, come on—I'll take you to meet our goddess right now!"
Bold words.
Definitely a drunk rant.
Klaus didn't buy the idea that Bete had good intentions.
Right then, a small figure walked over awkwardly, scratching the back of his head.
"Bete… you've had enough to drink."
"Stop making a fool of yourself. Let's go back to the base."
It was Finn Deimne, a Level 6 adventurer known as the "Braver" — also the captain of the Loki Familia.
As a Pallum (small humanoid), Finn looked like a child, but his brain was razor-sharp and he excelled at large-scale strategy and leadership.
Meanwhile, Bete looked like he was about to fall over any second…
Then suddenly he stood up straight and shouted: "Ais—listen to me—dammit!"
"I—I'm not drunk~!"
"F-Finn!"
"L-let me tell you something!"
With that, Bete turned toward Klaus again.
Without hesitation, he put his hand right back on Klaus's shoulder and gave it two firm pats.
"This—this guy!"
"He's m-my… f-friend!"
"Let him… j-join the Familia!"
Yeah, no one could deny it now.
Bete was completely wasted.
The guy was known for being a terrible drunk—once he had a few too many, his mouth ran wilder than ever.
Still, there was one person in the Loki Familia with an even worse reputation when it came to drinking.
None other than the Sword Princess herself—
Ais Wallenstein.
There was a time she got so drunk, she beat up several members of her own Familia.
It got so bad, Loki nearly sent her back to the heavens in frustration.
Even Bell had gotten roughed up by Ais when she was drunk.
Yeah, it was that crazy.
So Klaus normally stayed away from alcohol. He didn't want to cause unnecessary drama.
That's also why he'd turned down Syr's offer to drink earlier.
"....."
Finn, still wearing a forced smile, gave Klaus an apologetic look.
"Sorry about this."
"I'll take him back now."
He reached over and tugged on Bete's sleeve to signal him to leave.
But Bete whipped around and shouted:
"…No!"
"I-I'm not going anywhere!"
"I…"
Before he could finish, a loud smack cut him off.
A heavy karate chop to the neck dropped Bete like a sack of potatoes.
It was the dwarf—Gareth Landrock—who had silently come up behind him.
"I had to do it," he said calmly.
Then he hoisted Bete over his shoulder like a log.
Gareth was a Level 6 adventurer, nicknamed the "Elgarm."One of the top three powerhouses in the Loki Familia.
Though in his fifties, Gareth had the vibe of a wise and kind elder. He always looked out for the younger members.
Seeing all this unfold, Klaus just chuckled quietly.
He wasn't too bothered by Bete's antics.
His attention had already shifted—to a certain calm, elegant elf with green hair.
Riveria Ljos Alf.
Her aura exuded maturity and grace. And let's not forget—she was gorgeous.
With her flowing emerald hair cascading down past her waist like a waterfall, snow-white skin, pointed ears, and clear green eyes...
Her delicate features, refined nose, and bright, expressive eyes made her look like the gentle big sister next door.
Riveria had a kind and caring personality too.
However—
She hated being reminded of her age.
Loki often teased her by calling her "Mom," and once, when a young Ais called her an "old lady"...
Riveria tied the girl's limbs to a steel weight and tossed her into the pool for "swimming training."
…
Just then, Lefiya approached Klaus with concern. "Sir, are you alright?"
"Did Mr. Bete cause you any trouble?"
Klaus shook his head slightly.
"No, it's fine. Don't worry about it."
"That's good." Lefiya let out a breath of relief.
Honestly?
Klaus was still a bit stunned.
The Loki Familia's members were actually pretty easy to get along with.
Bete was clearly the odd one out.
If he hadn't acted like a jerk yesterday, Klaus might've already scored a date with Riveria today!
Riveria's frosty gaze shifted toward the unconscious Bete.
With a calm voice, she said:
"Looks like I'll need to discipline him a bit when we get back…"
Then she turned and walked up to Klaus.
