I'm sure many of you have heard the sad news of Owen W's passing. It has weighed heavy on my heart, so I wanted to take a moment to remember him. As a commissioner Owen was never afraid to be clear if he wanted something changed - though he was always kind about it - but thanks in a huge part to his assertiveness and honesty, every commission we worked on together pushed me a little further out of my comfort zone. Thanks to him I developed my style when drawing rolls and curves, and also pushed personal boundaries at the time with clothing transformation and costumes. As the years went by my favourite commissioners (retrospectively, not usually at the time, lol!) were the ones who helped me grow as an artist by pushing me beyond my limits. (To be fair that's pretty much all of you, you awkward bastards!)
Owen wasn't just a commissioner, however. Whilst working together I developed a huge respect for him. Most of you will know my correspondence has been little to none over the past few years. A a few Christmases a go, Owen helped me out with some problems in my personal life and I don't know what I'd have done without him.
Owen I'm sorry I wasn't in touch more in recent years. My life until recently had taken me away from desks and e-mails and I let many of my long distance friendships fall by the way side. I'm sad that we didn't get more time to work on TF together! Wherever you are now, I know you'll be wearing that goddamn kilt and inspiring the people all around you to be their best!
I've posted some of the projects I worked on with Owen over the years, I hope you'll all enjoy them and remember him well :).
