Discord? Stream announcements?

What does everyone think about a discord server for announcements for streams and other stuff?
It is a bit cumbersome announcing streams and such on patreon, while it is pretty easy and convenient to just drop a message on discord. I imagine because it is an instant messaging service, people would also receive more proactive notifications as well?
If I go through with it, then it will most likely not be a chatting/social server, because I don't have the resources to ensure appropriate moderation.
Anyway, what do you all think?
