Love you guys. Excited for the rest of the series! “White-80” and other variations are most always “dummy cadences” that are essentially there to keep the defense on their toes and keep the cadence from being monotonous and easy to guess.

love how kirk cousins is just a normal ass guy whose job happens to be NFL quarterback and he takes his job really serious but outside of that he's just a good ol boy who likes vans and bonfires. quarterbacks tend to be very mentally capable leaders and self-starters with successful attitudes. the mental aspect of it is what makes it the toughest position. this is also why the NFL has historically had a racist attitude towards black QBs (they would be boxed in as run-first QBs that couldn't throw or mentally process the game or be leaders), but that is rapidly changing as you see today.

Mariota was one of the best college QBs ever.. at the Oregon football facilities they have an entire wing named and dedicated to him. he's had some bad injureis in the NFL that kinda made him a career backup but in college he was simply unreal. even now he can still run in the NFL, coming out of college he ran a legit 4.48 in the 40

I’m glad I’ve been putting off watching this series so I can watch it with you guys! Funny you mention Mahomes’ voice, for all the credit he gets as a player he does get a little grief from fans for sounding like Kermit the Frog haha I may be mistaken on this but in regards to “White-80” or “Blue-80” these are just cadences that get the offense in rhythm. There may have been a point in league history when they had meaning but it’s more just to let the team know when the ball will be snapped. In the huddle pre-play they’ll decide what cadence to use. When I played in high school our cadence was “Ready, go, hit” where we could snap the ball on any of those three words. You want to make sure the defense is always guessing when the play is starting to prevent them getting a jump on you. The Cousins family is quite religious so I’m assuming his wife’s worship music was Christian music. They did a really good job with the three players they chose for this series. One elite (Mahomes), one very good but labeled a big game choker (Cousins), and a college superstar who’s struggled in the NFL (Mariota). We’ll really get to see how three very different players and men navigate the position. Looking forward to the next one!

I guess Kirk has always had this stigma of being a fraud. He struggles to show up in big games. Until recently the man couldn't win a primetime game. He's never done much in the playoffs. It's what separates him from the Star QBs in the league. It's all there, but he doesn't play to his potential, when he actually has to.
