The U - 30 For 30 Film
Added 2023-09-09 15:47:00 +0000 UTCThis was absolutely incredible! The University of Miami helped usher in a new era by recruiting from the toughest ghettos in Florida during the 1980s.

Honestly though, in my opinion intentionally trying to "neutralize" a QB or have the hardest hit is bad, there's a reason in the NFL that you can get a call for excessive hitting to protect player safety. BUT why does anyone care if they were getting paid some money on the side? Yes it was against the rules back then but Ole Miss had a similar scandal at one point; AND now NIL is a thing where there are 18 year old players going to schools based on where they will receive the most NIL money, which is their right. They work hard and playing for 10,000 a semester or so in tuition when you earn the school one million plus as a potential individual player is wrong when you could get hurt and your career could be over before it starts in the NFL.

2023-09-13 20:36:47 +0000 UTCI disagree with two of those. Nebraska was the best program in the 90s and Florida won as many national championships as USC in the 00s (technically more, because USC had the 04 championships vacated over the Reggie Bush nonsense).

2023-09-11 18:37:11 +0000 UTCmiami was the dynasty of the 80s, i would say florida state was the dynasty of the 90s, USC was the dynasty of the early 2000s, and since 2009, Nick Saban's Alabama has surpassed all of them

2023-09-11 17:47:38 +0000 UTCJust to add - Jimmy Johnson was also the head coach of the Cowboys teams that beat the Bills in the Super Bowl during the string of 4 straight.

2023-09-11 17:20:57 +0000 UTCI love that it has no commentary other than the original. So much happened on that day, it's crazy.

2023-09-11 16:44:25 +0000 UTCI would say my favorite 30 for 30 was "Long Gone Summer" which was the one all about Sammy Sosa vs Mark McGwire in the home run chase for the record in a season.

2023-09-11 14:12:20 +0000 UTCYou guys might enjoy the Netflix docuseries "Last Chance U". It documents the football players and staff at a junior college in Mississippi (seasons 1 and 2) that is famous for producing NFL talent.

2023-09-10 13:58:35 +0000 UTCJust to torture Nick, recommend the 30 for 30 on Steve Bartman. Really captures the spirit of cubs fans outside of the way they treated Steve. You’ll also get to see another legendary scapegoat.

2023-09-10 03:01:12 +0000 UTCThe OJ Simpson one is my favorite. It’s called June 17th 1994, and it’s just various clips of sports significant moments that happened that day.

2023-09-09 23:29:48 +0000 UTCAmerican media is horrendous now but as you can see, the Reagan era media somehow actually gives it a run for its money.

2023-09-09 17:31:37 +0000 UTCI knew it was a turnover and incomplete pass, but didn’t know it was called a pass deflection, appreciate it!
Damon Richmond
2023-09-09 17:00:04 +0000 UTCI know I usually don't do this, but Interception is a stat that is counted as a Turnover when a pass is "caught" by the Defense....A pass that gets touched by the Defense that results in an "Incomplete Pass" is called a "Pass Deflection"....Just thought I nitpick you guys here since I know this is the ONLY time you'll ever hear about this

2023-09-09 16:48:29 +0000 UTChaha, "what are those hats?" you ask Damo???? As a Truck Driver myself (or Trucker as us Americans say), those hats that have Mesh on them are technically "Mesh Hats" but are colloquially called "Trucker Hats" as they were very popular in the 60s all the way to today with Long Haul and even Local Truck Drivers

2023-09-09 16:47:29 +0000 UTCIt's kind of wild to watch this and remember what college football used to be like. Back when there was no overtime, ties every week, and no championship game. The national champion was decided by sportswriters and coaches.
Cory Acton
2023-09-09 16:20:18 +0000 UTCTrucker caps are very popular in hotter climates here in the US because the mesh in the back keeps your head much cooler.
