We need to check out the Otto Honkai Operation center video because he seems like a fascinating villain. Always interesting when things aren't so cut and dry where villains are concerned.

Otto's entire story afterwards has been trying to "atone" for his mistakes, since he blames himself for her death. But he does so in ways that are immoral, which is why he's the villain of the story. He's tried cloning her several times over, killing innocent people, etc. The cinematic is a bit confusing if you don't have much context, but you did get the gist of it. Everything he did and is doing now is to save his lover, Kallen. To do this though, he essentially changed the past where she died and created a new timeline where she doesn't die, at the cost of his own life. He didn't affect the current timeline, but no one else but himself knew his plans. So he saved her, but she and no one else will ever know. He's a morally gray character, much like a majority of the cast. Most of the playerbase's stance on him is that they can respect his story but still hate him for what he's done, so it's not uncommon to have mixed feelings about it. And there is a chronicle video too for further context. The 13 flamechasers you might have missed because their intro to the story was included as a version/update trailer, (which I would recommend checking out all of them to see the actual gameplay!) The flamechasers though, are Fu Hua's old teammates in one of her past lives. Elysia was basically the glue that held them together. Every single one of them is dead in the current story except for Kevin and Fu Hua

2022-11-29 17:27:02 +0000 UTCKallen was Otto's childhood friend, also the love of his life. She died when trying to sacrifice herself for the people. Otto tried to save her, but because of Kallen's selflessness, it actually end up killing her. So Otto has to live through 500 years of regret, and he caused basically genocide, launching nukes at innocent people, and many other crimes just trying to find a way to bring her back. There is another chronicle video about otto too, highly recommend you guys check it out.
