i think palpatine isnt even trying to hide here. if all he wanted was to kill the jedi he couldve executed order 66 much earlier. but his plans go much deeper. turning anakin is of course one part. But he is already planning for his empire. Every step he takes is designed to erode away the jedi order and republic from within. When he is done not only does he have his empire: the people literally begged him to become the emperor. and many were happy to see the jedi go. He is slowly desensitizing everyone through this war. And he makes sure no ones hands are clean in the end. Slowly he pushes everyone to sacrifice more and more of their morals for „necessity“. So what if its the last of its kind? Its sad, but our armies need the new armor. It is necessary. Palpatine doesnt rise. He makes everyone around him sink.
