This whole episode was brutal to watch. By the time Kazuki hugged Miri, my heart had sunk all the way because, by that point, it looked like both Rei and Kazuki knew 100% that they had no other option but to give Miri away and they were accepting it. It's even more brutal that this probably was just a fun day with her papas that ended with a sleepover with her mom for Miri. I wonder how she'll feel when she finds out she can't see her papas... Jeez my heart is breaking for this little found family.

Clearly the perfect situation to put a 5 year old girl in -_- Now she's gonna miss her papas, then she's gonna watch her mother die. This girl is headed straight for trauma for life.

But it’s so interesting how the anime plays around with the audience subjective feelings about Miri. As what we would want may not be the best thing for Miri. Thus making the audience questing how selfish their desires may be
