okay good. That's better. Didn't like thinking of Ghaul as someone else's puppet. And clearly Ghaul didn't like people thinking that either 😏

2023-05-21 20:58:25 +0000 UTCGhaul actually did earn his place at the head of the Red Legion, as well as (in the wake of the coup he, the Consul, and the deposed Emperor's daughter carried out) his position as the head of the Cabal empire. The Consul took Ghaul in and gave him the training and resources he needed to ascend the ranks, but Ghaul's battle prowess was all learned and honed in the Emperor's gladiator pits -- so much so, the Emperor made Ghaul the head of the Red Legion and confided his plans and thoughts with him. In spite of this friendship, Ghaul would still eventually overthrow and exile the Emperor, turning a society that had long embraced hedonism and extravagance into one that worshiped and embodied might.
