yeah we weren't knocking the show for not having Alucard so much as lamenting the fact that we don't get enough of him. He is by far our favorite character on the show and really drive it for us 🤩

I don't think this is exclusive to anime, but you will find that if you watch anime, the protagonist will often disappear for long stretches of time to develop other stories, characters, and plots.

Also, on a sidenote: i have seen a lot of reactors struggle with this. if you havent heard of the thought experiment of schroedingers cat you should read up a short description of it before you watch the last two episodes. just to get a basic idea what its about.

one thing i love about hellsing abridged is how mich fun everyone is having. as the series progresses you realize that basically everyone is terrible. be it the nazis, the church, hellsing…but in a weird way its hard not to be happy for them be ause they are having such a good time. even the nazis. the major ends up probably one of my favorite characters of all time. from episode 5 onwards the series just gets better and better. i love the french. i love the jews. hell, im even unreasonable happy for hans that he got to burn down london bridge, sing the song and everything.

So Police girl's backstory is pretty f-ed up. Basically her dad was a police officer who infiltrated a group, but said group traced him back to their home. Police girl's mom hid her in a closet while she watched the group break in to her house kill both her parents, and violate her mother's corpse. She became a violent orphan who swore to become a police officer like her dad. It's not even the worst anime backstory.

I missed Alucard during these episodes as well. They only came out once a year both the abridged version and the actual version. The wait for Alucard took years, but the episode he comes back was my favorite of the series. Definitely worth the wait.

"I better not miss a damn thing." Alucard's line from. Episode 4 is very poignant. Yeah, the end of this episode is definitely the most...collar-tugging moment, arguably, or anything TFS has every done. Seras and Pip (police girl and frenchman) don't get much screentime, but when they do, they are just fantastic.

So they are different from the white robes you see in the US. Its a robe they were for the traditional italian easter parade.(not related to the American one)
