I mean I understand the shock of suddenly seeing an intelligent grim that can TALK but it did take them a little too long to go "oh my god, its just kidnapped Oscar"

Pluto

Oh nice analogy 😃

Bethany and Ken

Tyrian mocking her in Chapter 1 of this volume as well. "I simp for someone that doesn't suck, so it's different."

Lucifer_Crowe

Oh they for sure wouldn't have made a difference it was just kind of funny to wait that long to shout Oscar's name haha 🤗

Bethany and Ken

Bethany still needs to see Jeepers Creepers

Bethany and Ken

yes, Emerald waving at Cinder is always funny. "Hi, I'm here. Love me please." 😆

Bethany and Ken

That makes this episode a fun rewatch

Bethany and Ken

It definitely annoys me how long it took them to respond, Oscar got jumped on, mauled, and stomped on with his Aura broken before anyone decided to do anything. Should’ve at least seen some bullets getting fired at The Hound and him ignoring them or some attempt. Besides that moment, I love this episode and most if not every episode in this volume.

BlakStatik23

The Hound is the first Grim to defeat any of the main four. It is a beast to be feared. Forget, Kevin, Geists, Nuckleavees, sea dragons, pterodactyls, etc. The Hound is Salem's apex predator. If Salem is Umbrella, The Hound is Nemesis.

DevilJynx

I really don’t think that if they reacted faster that it would’ve even made a difference so I don’t mind it too much honestly. There’s no way they were saving Oscar here. Yeah, I guess it would’ve showed something about their character to be more proactive and on point but I think it’s more impactful to show just how incredibly scared they were of the grim. Makes the grim itself more imposing if our brave hero’s are frozen in shock for so long.

Mia White

As if I didn't need another reason to love Yang. We get to see her riding a hoverbike which was pretty badass! Btw the first seven episodes of this volume is considered the "tame" half. This volume is going to knock your socks off, can't wait for the next reaction!

Bryan Forquer

Fun fact - haven't looked through the comments but im sure someone has said it, if you look carefully throughout this episode you can see the Hound stalking them the entire time :D That grimm was the one Salem told at the end of the last one to bring her the one who had the lamp, aka Oscar/Ozpin- its a special unique grimm that you'll see... well you'll see. As for the delayed reaction during the encounter- you can explain it that it was a very sudden and very violent attack that they were stunned, then seeing it transform in front of them terrified them and then hearing it TALK was just another O.O wtf moment.

Hononotenshi

Ah classic RWBY, let's wait till you're fully incapacitated or possibly dead then we'll step in and help. Almost reminds me of the mortal kombat story mode when the enemy takes forever to kill someone but then someone comes in last minute to save them. Also like the Grimm taking Oscar and flying away remind of Jeepers Creepers. You guys are in for a treat for this one.

Joaquin Benally

Eeeh, I won't go so for to place that kind of person in every family, but I bet everyone at least knows someone like that. The past years sadly shown that there are enough people thinking that way.

HaruGrad

I think we all have that one family member who acts like Mrs. Grumpy over there.

Serpent King

La relación de Ruby y Penny, es hermosa. Solo eso. The Hound. Lo van a amar. Disfrútenlo 👌🏻 Saludos 🇲🇽🫰🏻

El Patitas de Molcajete Takamachi

I'm also hesitant to call the monster by its actual Grimm name yet, though it's in the credits of this episode.

Lucifer_Crowe

the gang's reaction times would annoy me more if I thought they'd make a marginal difference Characters not TRYING (even if they fail) is definitely frustrating, especially if it feels like a story beat only happens because they didn't try and could have succeeded. (which isn't the case here IMO, Oscar was getting taken one way or another.) Overall I might have Jaune, Yang, and Ren delayed by smaller Grimm. Like the very same Sabyrs that fled maybe? (and then perhaps have Ren attempt to mask Oscar and have the 'beast' still grab/see him to show just how smart/advanced it is.) Overall though a pretty strong episode even if one of the weakest of the Volume IMO Penny's struggle with getting power (and thus responsibility) essentially thrust onto her shoulders is so nice to see.

Lucifer_Crowe

Poor Emerald. She wants so badly to have her love returned... but she's going to a bone-dry well there... :D

Jennywocky

Hooray for Yang being back in the saddle -- plus Robyn's comment about not being lectured by a "snake with a moustache." (What is it with moustaches?) Laughed at Weiss going up the shoot and Nora's delayed glee. The Hound felt like a bear attack when it's throwing Oscar around (and they have the camera focused in tight so you can't much of it and everything is chaos). The group's reaction was definitely delayed but... yeah, it was also new and horrifying and hard to process -- especially when it speaks. I think the delayed pacing was more for the audience (to give us time to absorb what was happening), rather than being realistic for the fight. Oh, neat callback to the LotR scene resembling Penny's remorse! Poor Penny. That grumpy woman actually will appear in the background from time to time, lol. Unfortunately I do think that she was the grandmother in that little family, the mom (I think) snaps, "MOTHER" at her as she grumbles during the trek and tells her that she is "setting a bad example" [for your grandchild]. This episode kind of clarifies that the merging of Ozpin and Oscar basically involves Oscar having access to more and more of Ozpin's memories and magic until eventually (since conscious identity is formed of memories) they are essentially the same person. As best I can tell, it's like all the prior incarnations (already merged) are folded into the new incarnation. But to Oscar, this expansion of his old self would feel like he is changing into Ozpin. It's nice to see Robyn's "Happy Huntresses" in less of an adversarial role this season!

Jennywocky

That cranky old lady that didn't want to go to the crater had a daughter (the girl with the snow shovel) and I THINK a grandson (the kid who fist bumped the fox faunus kid). And I LOVED the set up with Robin, it's so obvious that everything that Robin was saying about Schnee, Crow was thinking about himself. The self-blame he is going through is immense and I think that that is part of the reason why he wants to go after Ironwood because at least then he would have an outlet for his grief and anger. Great reaction as always, I can't wait to see your reaction for the rest of the volume because the ride only gets more intense from here lol!

Lady RedShee

Awesome reaction as always! I was looking forward to your reaction to Salem's Hound. It may be one of the creepiest Grimm CRWBY has come up with to date because of the way it can shapeshift at will. Gotta plug my love for Oz and Oscar again here though. Oscar's reaction to Oz was perfect - they've got a long way to go to rebuild their relationship and make the merge less difficult on them both - if Oscar keeps fighting it, I think it'll be worse for him in the long run. And Oz knows he screwed up by staying quiet for so long, but he also knows from experience that what is happening is inevitable. He's trying to do what he can to ease the transition, since there's nothing left for him to hide, but Oscar isn't going to make it easy on him. Penny is amazing as always - she's wanted to be treated like a normal girl for so long, but now she has all of this new power and responsibility - and I suspect that she also gained a lot of wisdom from Fria because Fria surrendered the power to her willingly, rather than it being forcefully taken like Cinder took from Amber or Raven from whoever the previous Spring Maiden was. Ozpin and Glynda did say there was a lot about the Maiden transfer that still wasn't fully understood, so maybe something of the previous host goes into the new host if the power is given willingly and peacefully? And Ruby getting to be the comforting "big sister" of sorts here as a role reversal since that is usually Yang's job. *chef's kiss* Nora is excellent as always too! Her comedic timing is spot on! If I didn't mention it last week, I would also advise paying attention to the chapter titles in this season in particular. Looking forward to next week!

Megan Saunders

the dichotomy of Emerald waving and Neo glaring at Cinder in the opening always makes me laugh

Lucifer_Crowe

Yeah, the pacing on the oscar getting taken scene is terrible. Lol

Rinnzu Rosendale

Something to note that if you go back you can actually see the Grimm run across the bridge while they were fighting the Teryx. And yes the woman with the shovel was the old lady's daughter.

Historia-Europa

The Hound...he he he, yaw are gonna love The Hound

Sol-Edge

I know once was on the bridge.

CMDRZero

There's a few times in this episode where that Grim can be seen in the background stalking them, btw. I never noticed until someone else pointed it out. And yea the way that door on the chute closed, pretty sure Weiss should've been cut in half or 3rds...

Alex Smith

Ahh yes, introducing The Hound. He's... beefy.
