Bahamut would certainly have destroyed much of the planet if left unchecked, but the Scions of the 7th Dawn were able to contain him at Cartenau within minutes of him waking up. He caused massive devastation locally and killed hundreds of thousands of people, but the world as a whole was spared. Which is why the recovery was pretty quick. The revalation that Hydaelyn and Zodiark were primals (long suspected by the Fandom) is a much bigger "WTF!?" moment with an understanding of the background lore. Believe me that was a major lore bomb when the trailer first dropped.

2024-07-31 20:24:08 +0000 UTCGreat reactions guys. A recommendation for you to watch FINAL FANTASY XIV Documentary Part #1 - "One Point O" on Youtube. It's a 3 part documentary which goes through the initial fall of FFXIV Online at its horrendous launch and how it was miraculously brought back to life as one of the most successful MMOs in over the span of a decade. It gave me a whole new respect to the developers who worked arduously to make this game and the community such a success.
