2024-08-06 19:30:17 +0000 UTCI love the episodes like these ones were it goes back and forth between Aang and Zuko as a sort of mirror episode of the two. There was quite a few of them back in season 1 and they always showed a different layer to each character, especially Zuko. In this episode my interpretation was always a difference between knowing your problems and understanding them. Aang succeeds by the end cause he knows the problem but doesnβt understand how to deal with it until heβs forced to do so. Zuko, in my opinion, actually fails despite technically learning the technique fairly fast and itβs because that wasnβt his lesson. Iroh taught him to redirect lightning but lightning is the manifestation of his own/someone elseβs energy and emotions. Iroh trying to get Zuko to redirect his own emotions into something that he can use for his own good and to understand himself better which is why itβs more of a philosophical lesson rather then just sparring like other lessons had been but Zuko sees it as simply a new technique to be learned and immediately applied in his efforts to rush towards his self imposed goal. As Bethany pointed out, Zuko has been getting humbled recently but that doesnβt mean heβs been actively humble and humility is something he needs to learn to appreciate for the strength that it is. He knows but heβs far from understanding
