I'm a bit late but should probably mention the lady that saw Firefly at the end of her short wasn't Jade actually, but another character named Kafka who you might or might not remember from one of the earliest trailers you've seen for the game.

2024-08-14 23:12:59 +0000 UTCFirefly destroying that planet wasn't totally in vain; the Swarm Disaster was a galactic level threat, and Firefly and her companions saved - quite literally - trillions of lives by destroying it. But her backstory is still perhaps the most depressing in the game. She's so sweet, and despite being a destructive war machine there isn't any malice or evil in a bone of her body, but it's difficult to imagine a happy ending for her at this point. The Honkai Star Rail storyline is so complex, and with so many moving parts, with so many major characters having very deep back story that getting context from these shorts is almost impossible. They're really there to give some extra flavor and fanservice moments to people who are familiar with the game. The game is fantastic, though. If IS possible to play it as a free-to-play game, although you'll probably not get a lot of the best characters that way, or be able to do a lot of the endgame content, you can still still get through the story with a FTP party.
