2024-08-28 13:44:27 +0000 UTCIt was never explained what the difference is because even Mercury's eyes are gray so back in the day people had questioned what the difference was. It's just an added "wtf" for that moment & a realization from Ruby

2024-08-25 01:13:44 +0000 UTCIf I remember rightly that's Alex Abraham's musical intention behind the chanting etc but isn't anything official. Definitely cute though

2024-08-25 01:06:59 +0000 UTCOh yeah! This is chapter 100! Though if you combine the two parters from V1 then Ch14 (the finale) of this volume is 100, which imo is more satisfying.

2024-08-25 01:05:16 +0000 UTCThat's what we're saying. She just didn't know enough specifics and so they ended up in each others way.

2024-08-25 01:04:31 +0000 UTCNot quite true about her not knowing that Ironwood is working with Watts. In the episode where she had everyone including Oz/Oscar kneel in front of her throne, she stroked Tyrian's face and said "Tyrian has heard from our good friend Watts. Although he remains a prisoner, he has worked with Ironwood to gain some control over the Winter Maiden." Then she turned to Cinder and ordered her to liberate Watts, with the expectation that either the Hound or Cinder/Watts would recover Penny first. She didn't care who got there first, just as long as it got done.

2024-08-25 01:02:36 +0000 UTCWe missed that they were silver eyed. Just too freaked out there was a person in there π±π«£π¨

2024-08-25 00:41:57 +0000 UTCYeah we thought the reaction from Ruby was just seeing some dudes face in a grimm because that was our reaction π± had no idea about the silver eyes, whoops π€π
Bethany and Ken
2024-08-25 00:41:26 +0000 UTCThere is definitely a strength buried in Willow. Where else would Weiss and Winter get their strength from? Definitely not Jacques ππ€

2024-08-25 00:40:22 +0000 UTCFor sure missed the silver eyes π―π±
Bethany and Ken
2024-08-25 00:38:49 +0000 UTCWe actually wondered about it being her summon or not. Thought it was then thought it wasn't so cut out the part about us talking about how it was ππ€ when I rewatched the scene I couldn't tell for sure

2024-08-25 00:38:13 +0000 UTCI believe that this is the 100th episode of rwby. They definitely went big with this one. Also the person that was inside the hound Grimm had silver eyes!

2024-08-25 00:06:34 +0000 UTCThis was definitely one of my favorite episode. I remember watching other reactions about this episode and one person comment something that was interesting. When the Schnees dropped that knight statue on top of the grimm you can hear the choir in the background. They say Tu, Sivo-Eisa Varia Sarehma tayka me Donu frayst vo me, donu cri... U-tu sivo-eisa me Which translates to You, Sliver-Eyed Warrior Salem took me Don't fret for me, Don't you cry Your sliver eyes for me. It sounded like the Hound was talking to Ruby. I don't know what the language is but I replayed that scene and listen to it and it got me the chills. I don't know it's something I wanted to share because it was interesting.

2024-08-24 22:13:34 +0000 UTCIt doesn't get explained well in the show but there is a difference between "gray eyes" & "silver eyes", silver eyes have the little nicks in the coloring. The zoom in on the fox faunus's face was a subtle point to that & is why Ruby also has such a reaction to it. Although, she almost sensed earlier on that this wasn't "just a Grimm", almost like with her abilities progressing that she can sense humanity inside the darkness. Which I personally think how RWBY will end, Ruby purges the Grimm out of Salem in a sense. But that's just a theory π€£ Genuinely what we have learned through the Schnee family, toxic masculinity is so real π€£ once everyone has gotten away (then kinda back with Winter) they all start showing their true noble values. Someone else pointed it out as well but that Ruby & Blake scene is such a great moment that also sets up for v9. The Watts & Cinder pair up is amazing honestly. There is a great moment that we've all kinda waited for. For fellow FMAB fans, I could only see Armstrong π€£π€£ Buckle up for the end, this is when it starts to get crazy.

2024-08-24 20:23:13 +0000 UTCMaybe Winter was the problem ;P

2024-08-24 18:54:07 +0000 UTCItβs kind of funny how the second Jacques is out of the picture, the Schnees start being an actual family.

2024-08-24 18:52:42 +0000 UTCWell the Soldier did start launching the RPG, and RPG Launchers usually aren't made with people changing their mind to shoot in mind, thus as soon as he triggered the launch, the RPG had to go somewhere, even if the target already moved away.

2024-08-24 18:51:10 +0000 UTCOh for sure. Though Watts did communicate he had control. But Salem obviously hasn't taken that as "put her on a path." (And did hedge her bets by sending The Hound and Cinder as two separate forces). It also shows The Hound isn't intelligent enough to reason. It was told to "take the girl" so that's what it has to do. Hearing Penny say "I'm gonna go open the vault." Means nothing even if that's what Salem needs.
Lucifer_Crowe
2024-08-24 18:25:05 +0000 UTCI like that the hound interferes with Watt's reprogramming because it shows the independence of their actions: Salem has no way of knowing nor reason to expect Ironwood including Watt's in his plans and Watt's knows nothing of the hound or Salem's activities. Frequently stories will forget insulated knowledge and characters end up operating off things they have no reason to know. Can be very irritating.

2024-08-24 18:20:55 +0000 UTCThe Hound was formed around a faunus -- but the big thing is that this faunus had silver eyes. So it tells us that (1) faunus can also be silver-eyed warriors + (2) Salem has terrible, terrible plans for silver-eyed warriors nowadays. Needless to say, this is horrifying for Ruby to imagine. But dang, I just really love how she says in a quiet voice, "That's ... enough," and blows it through the back window. Foot massage + chocolate sundaes? Sounds kinda... wild! :D So much of the episode was spent with the Hound looking for Penny but instead finding everyone else with the green blood/fluid on them first. We really grasp how bad straits Penny is in now, with Watts' virus driving her to self-destruction. Although Willow is SO traumatized / barely functional, she still struggles so hard to NOT drink, guides Weiss with the surveillance system, and then summons a boar (because she's a Schnee and can summon Glyphs) to save her son. Again, how awful has Jacques been to screw up his entire family so badly?? The actual Schnees seem to possess a noble streak deep within, even if it can be buried by trauma. Despite being a wreck much of the time, as the mother of Weiss and Winter, Willow must have some kind of strength buried inside her. It is a sweet moment between Ruby and Blake. It's interesting when you get to see Season 9, there's a lot of things being set up here -- comments made, imagery shown, etc. So much in RWBY seems to have both positive and negative connotations, very much like real life. TBH Blake is usually the least interesting character of the RWBY team to me -- and yet I love how she is increasingly showing (especially with Adam gone) how she's the most emotionally aware of the four RWBY women and often sees what needs to be said. The Cinder / Watts temporary pair-up will be exhilarating -- as they both despise each other and have no issue with expressing it. The whole back end of this season is a pretty wild ride. :)

2024-08-24 16:49:23 +0000 UTCSo the thing about the Hound... Bethany was right, it was a Faunus - particularly a fox Faunus... i.e. The Fox and the Hound? Also, a detail I think both of you missed... the Faunus was also a silver-eyed warrior like Ruby. They did a close up on his eye to try to draw your attention to it before cutting to Ruby's eyes. It is more indication that Salem has been systematically trying to deal with the silver-eyed warriors. Maria Calavera was blinded, this unknown fox faunus was turned into a Grimm, Summer Rose has been missing since Ruby was a toddler, and Cinder's orders regarding Ruby were to bring Ruby to Salem. Back when the Schnee summoning ability was introduced in Volume 3, Winter told Weiss that all Schnees have the ability to summon and have for generations. Jacques married into the family, so he's not a true Schnee, which means Winter and Weiss both get their ability from Willow. It remains to be seen if Whitley has it as well, but Winter didn't specify it as female Schnees can summon, which implies Whitley has the capability, he has just either never tried, or he has struggled with it the way Weiss did at first. But yes, Willow and Whitley are both on a road to redemption - Willow is and has been trying to do what she could for her children while they were all under Jacques' thumb, but now that he's gone, she's trying to step up, but she's also going to have to break through her alcoholism. Whitley has probably had years of emotional abuse heaped on him and some degree of (non-sexual) grooming by Jacques, but now that Jacques is out of the picture, he can start to stretch his wings as well, and seeing the impact of what Salem is doing, eavesdropping on Weiss, Ruby, and Blake, and seeing their closeness and determination... I think he wants that too.

2024-08-24 16:38:47 +0000 UTCSomething that amuses me about this episode is that Watts had basically already set Penny on a winning path for them, and Salem's Hound knocking her out again has delayed it. Her side are so funny at getting in each other's way. (Granted without The Hound to focus on, the heroes would have been able to focus on stopping Penny anyway) 0/10 no Harriet screaming at children. The Soldier shooting his RPG well after Cinder has moved always amuses me. If you've forgotten, Salem sent her to recover him so he could lead them to Penny. All we know about The Hound is that he was a faunus, and he had Silver Eyes. Easy to miss but the glimmer is there (and it cuts directly to Ruby for comparison.)
Lucifer_Crowe
2024-08-24 16:27:35 +0000 UTCAlso Also, what you were saying about Willow being active when her children were in danger, I'm like 80% sure that the summon that saved Whitley was hers.

2024-08-24 16:25:00 +0000 UTCRWBY team, once again earning their horror movie credit chops. Next to the Apathy, one of the creepiest/thrilling episodes. And yes, Whitley coming though in a clutch with a plan and seeing it through to the end. Also, get a good look at the face of the Hound... that is all.
