Ruby literally mentions that she feels like she wasted their time getting amity up because nobody came to help. The conversation wasn’t solely about Summer. Even if TRAVEL wouldn’t take that long. The mobilizing of forces would take a bit longer. Especially considering, we don’t even know if Vaccuo has an organized military considering most citizens don’t take the government all that seriously and Vale and Mistral both aren’t exactly in the best states themselves.

2024-09-19 13:13:32 +0000 UTCRuby isn't reacting to whats happening in Atlus in this episode, she's processing the encounter with the Hound and the implication that leaves for her Mother's fate. She dropped to floor and cried when Salem revealed she's the reason Summer never came back home, the worst thoughts Ruby ever had about what happened to Summer never compared to the realization that her idol didn't die a hero but instead likely became a mutated puppet of the would-be destroyer of the world is breaking Ruby down to the very core of her character. Plus the Kingdoms aren't actually all that far apart when traveling by air, Weiss travels halfway across Mistral in less than a day when she runs away from Atlus at the end of Vol 4 and the start of 5. The reason it would take time for reinforcements to arrive would be because it would take time to deliver a message and then also have them come to you. The idea is to have the message go out and have support ships from Mistral, Vale, and Vacuo there by the next day.

2024-09-18 20:00:37 +0000 UTCYou make so many good points esp in regards to foreshadowing. Again, I love the animation with the faces and eyes -- it's so nuanced, you can see small changes and reactions to events, and those reactions actually telegraph where things might go.

2024-09-17 21:28:51 +0000 UTCIt's mostly a combination of her excellent design and voice work for me tbh. Plus she's super funny being angy

2024-09-17 21:27:35 +0000 UTCYeah, that payoff about Ozpin has been a time in coming -- he actually sounds contrite and truly regretful for his actions, and now with their experience in Atlas, team RWBY has a better perspective of why Ozpin might have taken the approach he did and flex to him. I love so much that Emerald isn't eloquent ... but she seems more relaxed with this group.

2024-09-17 21:25:59 +0000 UTCI think Ruby is still just a teenager, forced into a terrible situation (Ironwood's betrayal, Salem's invasion, potential Mantle bombing), and it's all just piling up, especially remembering the Fall of Beacon. She's always been able to find a solution before, but her idealized view of being a hero is being slammed by the Sledgehammer of Reality, and it's all just too much -- and I really think the encounter with the Hound (revealing it to be a meld of Grimm and silver-eyed faunus) has really rocked her to the core in terms of what that might mean about Summer. The struggle for her will continue past Season 8. But yeah, it wasn't a lot of time, and I doubt a lack of communication across Remnant anyone could send a message either. A response probably couldn't be expected -- but the fact remains that a response is needed ASAP because Mantle and Atlas aren't going to last much longer.

2024-09-17 21:08:52 +0000 UTCI think a lot of the fans liked Harriet to begin with in volume 7 if I remember correctly

2024-09-15 18:18:07 +0000 UTCThanks for once again giving us those names haha. we will try to remember 🤪. Also, we have seen next episode yesterday so already know Rubys plan, but definitely wouldn't have guessed that 😯

2024-09-15 18:17:03 +0000 UTCWe have had recommendations on that before and that's something we'd be interested in checking out for sure in the future 😅

2024-09-15 18:14:44 +0000 UTCyeah feels like Marrow didn't realize how close he was to death. After all the shit Ironwood has done, it seems like Winter is only one who is finally understanding what he is capable of. Anything. 😱

2024-09-15 18:08:27 +0000 UTCI believe the creators stated that this entire volume beginning to end was three days

2024-09-15 15:42:53 +0000 UTCHarriet's great, she's so funny. Just think of her as a big baby having a tantrum. Her VA is excellent too.

2024-09-15 13:14:39 +0000 UTCSomething that’s always kind of confused me. Why is Ruby. (and by extension Yang since she doesn’t bring it up in her conversation with her) so down that no one has come to help yet? Going by the timeline of the Volume the message went out probably at most 36 or so hours ago. Wouldn’t it take time for the other Kingdoms to mobilize their militaries and huntsman and get over to Atlas? Then again the way theses characters talk about time in this show has always been weird. I seriously think sometimes the writers forget that the age difference between Yang and Ruby is only two years.

2024-09-15 10:20:51 +0000 UTCThis episode onward made me love Ruby way more than I already did. It was a well-deserved character-defining moment for her. Glad yall loving it as much as I do

2024-09-15 02:28:02 +0000 UTCThere's quite a few things that I dislike about this episode. I hate that everyone acts like Emerald is suddenly "redeemed" just because she switched sides. Innocent people died because of the destruction that she helped Cinder cause. Emerald needs to face the consequences of her actions. Personally I don't care for the Ren and Nora drama. I think they work better if they just stay friends, every time they try to be a couple. It just makes things more complicated, I won't be mad if they do get together as a couple. But I just don't think they know how to balance each other properly.

2024-09-14 22:10:33 +0000 UTCWhen Ironwood makes it clear that he is not bluffing, you can see a scathing look on Winter's face

2024-09-14 18:38:52 +0000 UTCI remember hearing those words, "That's what happened to mom", got me teary eye. Just being in Yang's shoes, I would have crying too. To think that your mom would be dead, only to now think that she might be living a fate worse than death 😢. Even Penny made me sad too, her saying "Ruby stop me!" and "Kill me and I'll make sure the power goes to you".

2024-09-14 18:24:10 +0000 UTCThis whole episode is the quiet space needed to launch the season's end, with a focus on progressing/resolving relationships between pivotal characters. Thank goodness at least ONE Ace Op (Marrow) actually speaks his heart. Winter's response was slick. Lol on the "Harriet" hate -- I felt the same way and yes she's never been super-likable even from Season 7. (Moah She Hulk!) I like Lie Ren's edginess as he engages Nora, but instead of shutting down or leaving, he stays and opens his heart. It feels good to see him working past his buried anger issues. There are many missteps that could have occured in that moment between Ren and Nora, but they are both truly listening to each other and choosing to give the other what they need instead of taking short cuts. Poor Robyn is underrated and unappreciated -- she always knows what to say and the grace to criticize in an encouraging way. Here she acknowledges Qrow's hurt while motivating him to be his best self. I have always liked that the writers continue to not "nice-ify" Emerald. Her clumsy delivery laced with humor suggests she can't or won't make presenses and thus is also on level about her defection. She's still also hanging out on the edge of the group, longing for a family like theirs while finally recognizing Cinder could never have provided it. I guess again, like Bethany's point about CRWBY giving us not exactly what we want but what is true to the characters -- including Ruby's hopeless tone and Yang's quiet tears. I love how, when Yang hugs her, Ruby both wants to pull away and also hug her back. So many personal moments that don't resolve with cheap answers. I can't remember whether I made the jump to Summer Rose while viewing "Dark" but Ruby did, and now we better understand her stress level. What is she, 17? And she's dealing with ongoing parent trauama + overwhelmed by decisions that even people 2-3x her age would have trouble sorting out? No wonder this is resting heavy on her.

2024-09-14 17:45:23 +0000 UTCWinter SAVED Marrow's ass! She is 100% done with Ironwood's shit. I also do like that Elm believed Ironwood was bluffing and Vine saw it as a threat that would play to the good nature he knows Ruby and co. have aka Elm and Vine were not on board with it as one believed it was a bluff and the other believed Ruby would not let Ironwood do it. Elm was likewise terrified of Ironwood when he nearly shot Marrow. You see it when she hesitates as he walks to her. I do like the nature of Emerald's speech to Ruby and co. but I would have worded it a bit differently to be more like "I'm going to be pissed off if you all give up after I nearly died just to help you escape Salem only to see you surrender to fear like Ironwood did." Or something like that. It's a minor complaint, the gist of what she was saying still hits the correct chords, it just needed a little tuning. So Ruby astutely noticed that The Hound was a parasite Salem implanted on a silver-eyed warrior and also that Salem used to merc Silver-eyed warriors, like Maria, but apparently when Salem and Summer met, Salem changed her M.O. Mayhaps The Hound is merely her beta test for what she wants to do with Summer. Imagine the horror on Ruby and Yang's face if they see more or less zombified Summer. It'd crush Ruby for sure, but Yang actually knew her; Yang would break harder than she did with Adam.

2024-09-14 17:20:22 +0000 UTCAlso, as a recommendation for something in the future - you should consider reacting to Epic: The Musical. It's a musical version of Homer's The Odyssey and it's fantastic. I will happily provide a playlist if needed.

2024-09-14 16:59:41 +0000 UTCAce Ops are: Marrow - puppy dog Harriet Vine - pale dude with the stretchy aura Elm - large woman who roots herself to the ground. Emerald's switch was great, because it's been foreshadowed since the Battle of Beacon. Oz's apology was also amazing, and the fact that they were so accepting of it now that they've all had time to think about things and they've met Salem and realize just how bad she is. Winter totally saved Marrow's life and put herself in danger too - Ironwood is very quick with his gun skills as evidenced by what happened when he shot Oscar - if Winter had been a split second slower, she might have pushed Marrow away, but she might have been shot in his place. Elm also seems to be having doubts now that Ironwood has issued his ultimatum and after he nearly shot Marrow. Go back and look at her expression after Winter takes Marrow away. Ruby and Yang broke my heart the first time I saw their scene. But Ruby's theory about Summer makes sense - Yang said in Volume 2 that Summer left for a mission and never came back, which implies they never found her body. People theorized for a long time that Salem was holding Summer captive and eventually Ruby would either be captured and find her mother being held in Salem's palace, or Summer would be brainwashed and Ruby would have to fight her mother. Both of those could still be true - but what form will Summer be in? If the unnamed Faunus became the Hound - what did Salem turn Summer into? Penny was also heartbreaking. The way she begs Ruby to kill her - and then promises to pass the Winter Maiden powers to Ruby.... d**n. Heartbreaking. What plan does Ruby have in mind? Any theories?

2024-09-14 16:58:20 +0000 UTCMy favourite thing is that cause Ironwood pulled out his black gun it'd have sent him flying in the opposite direction too, goofiest execution ever. I love how much of a potty mouth Emerald has when she isn't around Cinder or Salem, almost like she feels at ease. I love this conclusion with Oz and the others. Both coming to understand where the other was coming from at the time. Harriet continues to be so amusing. I do think in her own way she was trying to save Marrow, knowing what speaking out could bring. But she'd probably never admit it.

2024-09-14 16:24:08 +0000 UTCI think this might be the first time where we see Ruby literally having NO CLUE what to do towards the beginning of this episode.
