Funny how one of the most famous versions of the game has little lore, a pretty basic one at that. But on man I said this last time and I’ll say it again, my favorite character is Cody. A hero gone apeshit. Like him a lot since he was one of my two mains in street fighter 4. The reason he wears the cuffs is because he wants his fights to be challenging so the cuffs limit his movement and also has to make sure he doesn’t break the cuffs. He actually has a taunt where the easily takes them off. A top tier fighter for sure. Fun fact, in the manga (don’t worry the UNDO manga it’s is own separate continuity and at most would only be used as a reference) Cody fights Ryu and actually knocks him out in just a few punches. But then Ryu used the Satsui no Hado and surprises Cody with a hard punch, kinda like Sagat, which knocks Cody out. Would have been fun to see if Cody stacks up to the dark Hado.

2024-09-20 23:15:36 +0000 UTCSF2 is a very beloved game in the franchise and definitely deserves the popularity at the time of its release. It was one of the first fighting games that sparked the competitive scene on a worldwide scale. So it’s very odd that its lore is not that straightforward. All of it has to be connected by the players, and even when they did give an answer it conflicted with something. But I guess that can just be chalked up to devs not really caring about lore at the time.
