Thanks for sharing that fun fact. Glad the writers stuck to being true to the character 🙂

2024-09-22 16:12:30 +0000 UTCLove how Avatar has made Iroh become part of the anime trope (ofc Avatar isn't an anime) of old men who are super jacked, sort of like Master Roshi. And damn that moment that Sokka got the White Lotus chip, I must've forgotten what this will mean in the future episodes, so I'm just as much in the dark as you guys are about that

2024-09-20 23:35:54 +0000 UTCI think Sokka always has been at least good in (sword-)fighting. I assume he got the basics down, as he was already training to be a water tribe warrior from a young age. And along his journey with the group he got really good at "unconventional Warfare", the techniques he showed fighting against his master in this episode. Fighting, mainly defensively, on the move, in rough environments, being outnumbered or outnumbering himself. But he was alaways missing the direction and knowledge/skill to fight a proper 1v1. As soon as he had to fight someone who got military training, he would always (quickly) loose. What I believe, the big change will be, that he will be still fighting defensively, but now should be able to hold his ground or outmaneuver other trained fighters. I'm curious to see how it will go when he encounters the next major non-bending enemies.

2024-09-20 19:36:18 +0000 UTCFun fact - Allegedly, the armor scene with Aang in the weapons shop at about 6 mins in this episode was not planned originally. Some executives of Nick wanted the writers of ATLA to put Aang in armor, to sell a special edition action figure of him. The writers didn’t want to do that, because Aang has not and was never supposed to wear armor And what we got in this scene was the writing teams response to an insistence that Aang be in armor in at least one scene
