To clarify, Kale doesn't go Super Saiyan from sadness, it's still anger. As Cabba said, it's possible Kale was angry that Cabba was going to replace her as Caulifla's right hand. Like, you ever been so angry you cry, that's Kale. She has big similarities to Hinata from Naruto, always shy, just she'd do anything for the person they admire. Unfortunately Kale is voices by Dawn Bennett, not Stephanie (I forget her last name). But Dawn is amazing as Kale and I love Kale (the character not the vegetable). Also credits for making Kale the counterpart to Broccoli.

He will happily do so, but it wasn’t the first thing on his mind. He is noticeably more composed in this arc. Made me go from disliking him to loving him

Also fun fact, that is indeed Chris Ayres prior to his passing playing Frieza. His understudy did actually fill in for him for episodes 93-108, for the original broadcast versions of those episodes but for home/streaming releases they had since gone back and redubbed it with Ayres.

People have gone as far as referencing a little blurb written on a DBS promotional wafer sticker that implies Belmod's stronger than Beerus.

2024-09-24 19:24:53 +0000 UTCAt last, the “Female Broly” reveals herself! I know Ken noticed her likeness to Broly in the opening, but I’m rather surprised Bethany never brought it up. She was easily one of the biggest talking points as Toei started putting out promo material for this arc. Fans were getting excited because it meant that we were getting a canon character representative of the Legendary Super Saiyan. You can tell they wanted to drum up nostalgia for Broly in this episode with all the references they make to his first movie in this episode. (13:15) Kale pointing to Cabba and saying “he’ll be the first blood sacrifice” is exactly what Broly said to Goku in the first movie. (15:38) This tackle move (Gigantic Press/Bomb) she does on Cabba is the same move Broly used on Kid Gohan. (16:36) “My energy’s rising… overflowing” is another one of Broly's most famous quotes. Kale follows up with Gigantic Impact, one of Broly’s signature moves.

In the manga, her personality is more assertive and reserved while still being a capable fighter with massive respect for Caulifla. She’s reluctant to fight not out of shyness, but out of fear that the leader who gave her a home will find out that her subordinate’s power far exceeds her own.

The next two episodes are some of Super’s best imo, and the performances of the late Chris Ayres and Ryusei Nakao steal just about any scene he's in. Can’t wait for what’s about to come.

She was created by Toei out of them knowing the popularity of Broly’s character, which Toriyama followed up by designing Caulifla due to his penchant for antagonists being in pairs (i.e Nappa and Vegeta, Androids 17 and 18, etc.).
