It is a shame you didn't experience the Saiyan Saga to Android Saga from DBZ original or Kai. The Piccolo and 17 moment hits much harder considering the battle they had before Cell came along. I keep forgetting the Sonny Strait voices Krillin, because the same VA for Krillin is Bardock and Bardock is a fucking bad ass with a bad ass voice. So, in the Japanese dub, instead of Marron or I guess 17 asking the other if they like animals, Marron asks 17 how old he is. To which 17 jokes that he's 17. Odd joke, but fitting for 17's deadpan humor.

His sneaky, evil ways are just too entertaining & i love to hate him lol Frieza also brings out a more brutal side to Goku than any other villians because Frieza killed Krillin in front of him, i think Goku will always have deep hatred for him. You can also see Goku's hatred for Frieza in Resurrection F movie. Frieza is just like Goku in the sense of Goku looks in only one direction, which is being good & full of light. Frieza is the complete opposite, even different than Vegeta becuz Frieza doesn't have one ounce of good in him. As much as i also love the deep connection between Vegeta & Frieza. Frieza & Goku are almost exactly the same in the way i explained, which makes their contrast so amazing on screen. Both one way thinkers but the the complete opposite way.

2024-09-27 01:32:44 +0000 UTCAlthough it isn't shown in the anime, in the manga there's a quasi-explanation for 17's ridiculous power boost. The Cell Jrs are living on the island, because they regenerated after Gohan destroyed them. To stop them from running wild, 17 rounded them up and "tamed them". So he's spent the last several years constantly fighting all of the Cell Jr's, on his own, until he eventually gained their cooperation. Goten and Trunks end up having to fight them, because the Jrs mistake them for an enemy. Which also shows how ridiculously strong they've gotten, too. Given they are able to take on all of the Cell Jrs at once and force a stalemate.

2024-09-26 20:25:30 +0000 UTC“Haloed like a cherub when it should be crown” The mf got resurrected and his first one liner didn’t disappoint 😂😭 The visual treatment given to Golden Frieza here rivals Resurrection F despite the weekly anime having nowhere near the same resources as a movie. Gone are the days of how Frieza looked in the anime Resurrection F retelling.

2024-09-26 19:39:00 +0000 UTCFrieza has a ton of memorable quotes, especially in Kai but, "Haloed like a cherub, when it should be a crown" is probably one of the best and funniest ones. This episode had a lot of really good callbacks like, the little "spar" Goku did at Baba's place is a one to one recreation of his fight with Grandpa Gohan back in OG DB, Piccolo and 17 meeting again for the first time after their kick-ass fight in the Android Saga, Roshi remembering his training with Korin and the fact that he can't fly since that was Crane's technique and not his, etc. It's callbacks like this that make me appreciate Super more, since they're really far and few between. Frieza's transformation at the end is also so much more of a a spectacle than I remember, holy shit.

I just happen to know a lot about Dragon Ball that I'd like to share, and I've seen Super's episodes quite a bit from my own viewing and old reactions over the years so I know certain points I want to bring up. For now, my work schedule allows me to watch their DB reactions first thing. If I'm paying for this tier of Patreon, might as well make the most of it.

Before this, it felt like they just brought Frieza back for the sake of fan service (which they did). At least here it adds a layer of desperation and suspense to the tone of the plot.
