this is my fav ep since i was a kid and still today. I love Sokka and the fact that he got an ep dedicated to him is fantastic.

I was not ready for the IrohxJune and Aangzula combos. I appreciate yall being Zutara shippers, though.

Suki and Sokka works as well. But Toph and Sokka would warm our heart. Although them all being friends and none of them getting together works for us as well. Not big into the TophxAang combo. If we HAD to pair everyone with someone. TophxSokka, KataraxZuko, IrohxJune, and AangxAzula because that shit would be hilarious. 😂

This is what I get for not waiting until seeing both reactions before asking a question. So you two are on the TophxSokka ship, eh? What about SukixSokka? TophxAang? Love the intrigue you both displayed upon seeing the lotus tile.

One of my favorite episodes lived the reaction

Really makes that “You are more worthy than any man I have ever trained” hit harder

Get out of town. That explains why he always sounded familiar. I know him better from The Sopranos “cmon Tony, you know I’m good for it”

Fun Fact: The armor Aang wears in this episode was created in protest. Nickelodeon wanted to push the toy sales of Avatar: The Last Airbender by releasing an Armored Aang figure and so pushed the Avatar team to create it and put it in an episode to advertise it. The writers and artists however were against the idea as they felt armor of any kind did not fit Aang. They finally decided to create the armor seen in this episode as a way of getting the network off their backs. Also, I don't think the show ever mentions this but Piandao was the one who taught Zuko swordsmanship as well.

So Sokka’s Swordmaster was voiced by Robert Patrick AKA the T-1000.

Iroh’s quote to Zuko in Season 2—“In the darkest times, hope is something you give yourself. That is the meaning of inner strength”—is a powerful reflection of his unwavering wisdom. What’s truly remarkable is seeing Iroh embody these very words during his own darkest moments. Despite the challenges he faces, he remains resilient, never succumbing to despair. His actions beautifully illustrate the profound lesson that true strength comes from within, and that hope, even when it feels scarce, is something we can always nurture within ourselves..
