2024-10-09 19:05:07 +0000 UTCYou’re right. I was thinking about my previous trip to Japan and incorporating that into my comment without realizing what I was doing.

2024-10-09 18:30:08 +0000 UTCI don't think it's tourism, but that the Sakoku Decree is referencing the Edo period under the Tokugawa shogunate, where isolationist foreign policy, namely sakoku, was put into place. This made trade and commerce severely limited to foreign nations and had to be done at a specific port in Japan, which was the port of Nagasaki. This is shown as the trading center of Ritou in Inazuma. Japan was very isolationist in the fact that no one can enter or leave the country, with laws enacting that everyone had their swords confiscated to reduce the chances of overthrowing the shogunate. This, again, drawing parallels to the Sakoku Decree and not being able to enter or exit Inazuma.

2024-10-08 20:32:22 +0000 UTCSo I’m just gonna say this right now. A lot of players really did not like the beginning of Inazuma because it mostly dealt with NPCs and fetch quests that went on for too long. Since you two are just watching, you’re not gonna feel the annoyance of having to travel back and forth with characters that aren’t even playable. And the whole strict laws going around Inazuma kind of reflects its real life counterpart, Japan. Japan has been going very strict with their laws on tourism due to the stupid actions a bunch of foreign troublemakers made. And some Japanese citizens, mostly those not in the cities, really don’t like tourists. And I don’t blame them with how disrespectful and ignorant some people can be.

2024-10-08 20:30:24 +0000 UTCSo just a refresher about Kazuha and to add on what Luminary already mentioned. Kazuha and his deceased friend were runaways because they refused to give up their Visions. The little glass things that hang around them and give them their elemental powers. The reason they were ordered to give up their Visions was because the Raiden Shogun had created the “Vision Hunt Decree”. A law where anyone with a Vision was to turn them in to the Tenryou Commission and be placed on a statue for the sake of “Eternity”. Thing is, taking away someone’s Vision can cause some major side effects that you will soon see. And another reminder that those who receive Visions are pretty much special cases compared to the rest of the people that are just regular folks. So the people affected by this law are a small percentage compared to the rest of the population that aren’t affected by it.
