Rasputin commands a level of arms and armament that would slay the hives army. But he’s completely causal. He has an effective solution to the hive that hasn’t failed yet: ‘use a crowbar to crush the ants, use a sledgehammer to swat the flies.’ Truly an effective strategy! His output of ‘find out’ to ‘eff around’ is phenomenal. Yet his causal nature means he’s..not the brightest about how paracausality works intuitively? He thinks he can just KEEP swinging a sledgehammer at flies. He’s got no experience dealing with xivu arath in any real measure of paracausal warfare so he thinks that even if he plays into the trap, he could still come out on top and protect humanity even if he has to kill more hive in the end. What’s a million more flies to orbital railguns? His strategy would work on oryx and savathun. On every 𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 hive! But he doesn’t know that’s that XIVU is counting on. He’s just arrogant enough to drove his over the anti-talk landmine that is a hive goddess of war thinking it’s a bear trap.

Rasputin's strategy would probably work against Oryx and Savathun, but not Xivu Arath due to her worm gaining power through conflict. Rasputin went dormant after the collapse so he doesn't have any data on the Hive Gods which are far different then the rest of the Hive that can be killed by raw force. I was super excited to finally hear Rasputin since we have been interacting with him since the very beginning of Destiny 1. I don't think Rasputin is arrogant, he's just working off of the data he has currently. And I can tell that he really wants to protect humanity thanks to Ana Bray. As the you saw in the sky box, the Seraph Station mission is one of the coolest things to experience in Destiny, IMHO. The ending of the season got the entire Destiny community super hyped for the next expansion Lightfall. Unfortunately, Lightfall was a disappointment for many of us, so it will be interesting to see how you react to the Lightfall story. The seasons after Lightfall make up for it considering they lead up to The Final Shape.
