Just incase anyone else doesn't Back in the middle ages, it was believed that diseases were caused by smells (probably something to do with the stench of decay), so the plague makes had long noses so they could be stuffed with strong smelling herbs and other things, which the doctors of the time believed could protect them from (among other things) the black death. A kind of early precursor to the gas mask. The doctor's equipment probably DID actually serve to protect them from the black death to some extent (though probably not by much), but it had more to do with the waxed robe and thick leather gloves than it did the beak mask (which didn't actually do anything and, because it had nostril holes, offered no protection at all).

One horror short film YT channel that I can recommend would be Dylan Clark. His works "Portrait of God" and "Transfigure" are a couple of my personal favorites.
