2024-11-08 00:47:57 +0000 UTC89 was just a weird episode. We never held it too much against Roshi, just wanted to see more out of him. People think we won't like OG DB because of Roshi's antics (lot of Youtube comments on that), but if we see more of him than just his pervy side then it'll be fine. The problem with 89 was that all we've seen of Roshi so far has been his pervy side and we never really got to see him fight much or see how much he means to the team. So this was really nice to see π

2024-11-08 00:44:54 +0000 UTCA lot of what happened in this episode is a call back to OG dragon ball, Roshi's moves and such. it is there that Roshi shined more(yes he was still a perv). In dragon ball Z, Roshi was sidelined which is probably why he had that line in this episode talking about him realizing he has more to give in dragon ball super. his speech when powering up his Kamehameha was a line from the OG dragon ball when Roshi started Goku and Krillen's first day of martial arts training, teaching them his philosophy and fighting style of the turtle hermit.

My parents were actually fans of OG Dragon Ball the most & they also watched OG Dragon Ball when it first aired on tv here in Japan. So my parents were literally watching Dragon Ball in the early 80's before me & my brothers were even born. When we all watched this episode my mom cried so hard lol but my dad wanted to cry. He's just a big tough guy lol

I showed my mom and sister dragonball all the way from the start and they balled their eyes out to this episode.

2024-11-06 08:54:44 +0000 UTCThis episode had me shedding tears. There's a long history here between these 3 characters. Roshi is a perve, and I can sometimes get very annoyed with him, but ultimately it's impossible to not see all the good he brings. The thought of him dying was very sad for me.

The return of Roshiβs more βobtuseβ techniques like hypnosis, the more Eastern mythological feel of U4βs fighters, and the appreciation of Roshiβs status as Goku and Krillinβs mentor. Amazing.

So yeah, some love and appreciation for OG Dragon Ball fans. Also, that Kamehameha and speech he used is his Ultimate attack in Sparking Zero when you play as Max Power Roshi, I just clocked that.
