Some more Smash Bros. suggestions (sorry if any of these have been proposed before): Character reveal trailers for Super Smash Bros for Wii U and 3DS (Smash 4). You guys would already know who will be in these since you've seen all the characters that Smash Ultimate brought back, but the animations and hyping up of the character reveals are still fun to watch even over a decade later. Playlist: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLi32z5GPgGrVuZ14tRQlNgM-vhdvwigs-&si=FgBNZ1UScUwde97y Super Smash Bros. All Assist Trophies: Assist Trophies are items unique to Smash Bros that allow a player to summon an NPC to fight alongside them. Think of it as a sort of half-step to making a character a playable fighter. Assist Trophies pull from a wide range of franchises and video game genres, so putting them all together makes for quite a wild bag of tricks. Could be a real fun reaction video since you'd have no idea what to expect. Link: https://youtu.be/MT7qfMHlj48?si=witmcw1pmjeWJKHO Super Smash Bros. All Pokeball Pokémon: Due to Pokémon's popularity, the series gets much more than just playable fighters in Smash. Players can use Pokeballs to call out Pokémon into battle much like Assist trophy fighters. Smash uses Pokemon ranging from the cute ones to the big badass ones, so I imagine this compilation would have something for both of you. Plus, you'd get to see more Pokemon in action compared to the Pokemon stuff you guys have seen so far. Link: https://youtu.be/MGvTDkfNUII?si=0Ix7su3exhIjfYK8

2024-11-09 22:34:04 +0000 UTCDoing all this explaining made me think of a new Smash Bros suggestion. When each DLC character was revealed, Sakurai and his team would put out these update overview videos that go over the content being provided alongside each new fighter. While they're more meant for informing than entertainment, I think they could be a good way for you guys to learn a little more about the franchises included in Smash and how much thought Sakurai and his team put into representing them. Careful with the Sephiroth one tho, it's got FF7 spoilers in it. Someone put together this YouTube Playlist compiling each of them here: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLkm10-IJm8KAR9ZMcgP2xOZixpR8t3neN&si=kD-S5X64-kSIUqbU Could be more palatable than having to read through my rambling on here 😅😁!

2024-11-09 12:20:01 +0000 UTC38:16 Yes, as I'm sure others have mentioned to you, Sora's inclusion in Smash in nothing short of a legal miracle. The only Disney representation in SSBU is the little Mickey head keychain dangling from the Keyblade. No Disney characters are mentioned/shown anywhere, and there's a lot of Kingdom Hearts music that has been left out of the soundtrack. What's more is what happens when Kirby uses his Copy Ability when he swallow Sora. Instead of getting an actual Keyblade, he conjures a strange Keyblade-like substitute made of light that doesn't have the Mickey keychain. Sakurai once tweeted that this was done out of consideration of lore implications, but I'm highly suspicious of such an explanation. Disney has been on record for being petty when it comes to how their properties are portrayed in games before (i.e getting on a studio's ass about a lightsaber not being a certain color).

2024-11-09 00:55:26 +0000 UTCHope it’s not Breath of the Wild. Nothing against it. It deserves the praise that it has. But Sandbox games tend to be very long unless you either quickly or already know what you’re doing. Since they have a Switch, I hope they check out one of the older games either via the virtual console or one of the ports.

2024-11-08 23:25:51 +0000 UTCNearly forgot. That skeleton and that little Cup looking character near the end are from VERY popular Indie games from back in the late 2010s. “Indie Games” are video games not backed up by large companies and instead created by small teams or even just 1 person looking to become bigger through their own hard work. The skeleton is Sans from Undertale. Very fun pixel RPG game that everyone loved with how creative and complex it was. Sans isn’t the main character you play as, but he’s very important. The cup guy is “Cuphead” from the hit game “Cuphead”. A 2D shooter game that reflects old time cartoons and is so much fun to play and is somewhat hard for newcomers, but so much fun when you get the hang of it. Unlike Sans though, Cuphead is someone you play as, along with his younger brother, Mugman if you have a 2nd player. Here’s the thing though. The ones you saw in the video aren’t actually them. They’re just costumes for your Mii Fighters to wear. Mii Fighters are just avatars you can make to look like anyone. And are basically Nintendo’s way of bringing in characters without actually getting the character themselves. Example being Heihachi. He’s not in the game, but there is a costume of him you can put on your Mii.

2024-11-08 23:17:50 +0000 UTCNot to be "that guy", but Toriyama only did the art and character/enemy designs for Dragon Quest. Yuji Horii's the creator and director.

2024-11-08 19:49:48 +0000 UTCComment about how you felt the sword characters felt similar. That’s actually been a very big complaint for the Smash fandom for more than a decade. Most of the sword characters are from Fire Emblem. And because of that, a lot of Fire Emblem fans get harassed and hated by the fandom because so many of their characters get in, which wouldn’t be a problem since Mario and Pokémon have more characters, but the ones that use swords felt very similar to most players. There are differences between them, there’s only so many ways you can use a sword differently. And about the ones called “Hero”. They’re from Dragon Quest. And the blue gumdrop things are actually slimes. One of the most iconic enemies of Dragon Quest. Dragon Quest is one of the MOST POPULAR series in Japan. And if you were a big anime fan, you would notice that the heroes look very similar to Dragon Ball characters. And that’s because Akira Toriyama, the creator of Dragon Ball (Rest in Peace 🙏), created the series. Any JRPG (Japanese Role Playing Game) fan worth their salt have heard of this series and the influence it has in its homeland. Also the reason all 4 of them are named “Hero” is because they are self-insert characters you can name as anything you want.

2024-11-08 19:46:36 +0000 UTCSo with another Smash Bros video, it is related for me to suggest this again. Hades Misguidance Which is an internet parody of Palutena’s Guidance you two watched before. But that’s an official thing in the game. Where the Hades Misguidance is a fan-made parody that was made for fun albeit in a more condescending, funny manner. I’ve sent you the playlist for Hades Misguidance before and the thing is each video is only about 5 minutes long. So will you watch them in batches of 3-4 videos each? You’ve actually gotten the attention of the creators that make the parody (they’re called Zelda Universe) because you reacted to their version of Palutena’s Guidance that included Sora. Because the official game never actually did anything for the DLC characters. And the channel commented saying they appreciated your video. So you’re safe in watching their parody.

2024-11-08 19:37:05 +0000 UTCI’m surprised you didn’t recognize or at least lump together which fighters are from which series as the video went on. The symbols of the games they’re from are literally the first thing that pops up before they do their poses. Another thing that surprises me is you asking if Pichu is a baby version of Pikachu. You haven’t seen much Pokémon stuff, but I figured you would have guessed that Pokémon evolve into different forms since certain evolutions retain parts of their previous forms.

2024-11-08 19:27:29 +0000 UTCA lot of these felt repetitive because the uploader included animations for alternate skins that change up the character models more than just the colors. Imo the uploader didn't need to go to lengths of doing that when the animations for most skins stay the same for each character. As to why some animations don't really "pop" as much as you two seem to expect, I could think of a couple reasons: 1) These victory animations aren't really meant to be something that you look at for a while. They're usually just intermission between matches that take about 3-4 min each on average. 2) I imagine that development deadlines for SSB Ultimate were pretty tight. Having to account for 74 characters (not including skins that alter character models) just in the base game is already a lot of animation work on its own. This wasn't helped by the fact that Ultimate's dev cycle didn't leave much turnaround time. Ultimate began development right as Smash 4 DLC ended in early 2016, and came out in late 2018 (so under three years total). Such a small gap between releases is likely because Nintendo needed its developers to make a hard pivot developing for the Switch after the commercial failure of its predecessor, the Wii U. Smash Bros is one of the company's best selling series, so I imagine they wanted to have a Smash Bros game on the Switch ASAP.

2024-11-08 19:22:56 +0000 UTCAhh Smash rosters. Always have mixed feelings when looking back on them like this. Makes me feel good because they celebrate so many franchises I love, but they also tend to have a history of online vitriol behind them. Review bombing of games and nonsensical flame wars all caused because some people just happened to be dissatisfied that their wishlist character didn't make the cut. Wouldn't be surprised if the comments end up bringing it back over on YT. Not vibing with a character choice is fine, but some people really just don't know how to control themselves. Imagine me coming on here berating you guys for uploading Destiny and Hoyoverse content with the same energy I usually bring just bc I'm not into either of them 😮💨.

2024-11-08 19:11:26 +0000 UTC38:47 This reaction is so funny and I couldn't possibly explain why to you. But to answer your question, it's a costume for the Mii Gunner based on Sans from Undertale. Undertale's an incredibly popular indie game that managed to gain notoriety from Sakurai (creator of Smash Bros), and really managed to blow up just as much in Japan as it did here in the west. Many characters and games were given representation in Smash Ultimate as costumes you could equip to the Mii fighters, such as Doom Guy, Dante (DMC), Monster Hunter Hunter, Cuphead, and Ezio just to name a few. I guess the uploader just wanted to include Sans for the sake of the memes.

2024-11-08 18:56:38 +0000 UTCAlso fun fact but Hero is from Dragon Quest and the main artist for the series was Akira Toriyama so that’s why all 4 of them look very similar to Dragon Ball Characters most evident being his 2nd alt Erdrick/Arusu lol

2024-11-08 18:53:11 +0000 UTCMost of the anime swordsmen that “blended in together” according to Ken were from Fire Emblem and it’s been a constant joke they all look the same and play the same. It really doesn’t help that there is 8 of them in the roster which is the same as the amount of playable Pokemon in Smash so they get a lot of hate for not being deserving of that many characters because they’re not as popular of a Nintendo series as others unfortunately and reason being is the main creator and developer of smash Masahiro Sakurai is a huge fan of Fire Emblem himself so bias is definitely showing from him. But as a huge fan myself it kinda sucks because there’s a lot of uniquely designed characters with different weapons besides swords and the closest characters we have to truly representing the series is Robin and Byleth.

2024-11-08 18:48:54 +0000 UTC31:48 Well, it's not really his name per se. He's from Dragon Quest, which allows you to name the main character for yourself in each game. Perhaps Dragon Quest may be worth checking out once you guys have finally caught up on Dragon Ball material. Toriyama served as the illustrator and character/creature designer for the series, and it's tone and writing are reflect the more light hearted adventure side of OGDB and Daima. The series doesn't get as much respect here in the U.S, but it's age and impact make it the grandfather series of RPGS (predating the likes of Final Fantasy). Dragon Quest is absolutely worshipped over in Japan, having concerts, amusement parks, and even convenience stores being themed around the series.

2024-11-08 18:44:51 +0000 UTC31:11 Joker's victory screen changes color and music depending if you play on the Persona 5 stage, which also changes color depending on the music that's playing during the match. Guess the uploader just wanted to show all of them off. Joker's victory animations were also ripped straight from Persona 5, which was a really cool touch.

2024-11-08 18:43:08 +0000 UTCBefore the characters show up you see a game icon indicating what games they are from. Before Sheik and other Legend of Zelda characters you see the Tri-Force. Then again, y'all aren't familiar with Legend of Zelda and I need to change that.

2024-11-08 18:41:33 +0000 UTC8:42 Nah, Marth's from Fire Emblem (particularly Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light, the first ever Fire Emblem release). Though funnily enough, a lot of people here in the U.S. were introduced to Marth (and Fire Emblem) through Super Smash Bros Melee, as his game hadn't yet been localized.

2024-11-08 18:19:44 +0000 UTC7:58 Pichu is what's known as a "baby Pokémon". Baby Pokémon weren't introduced until after the first generation of Pokémon games (aka after Pikachu had been introduced). Pichus are the first stage of the Pikachu evolution line, the second being Pikachu, and the third being Raichu. Playing as Pichu in Smash is a real high-risk high-reward decision. It's the lightest character in the game, takes recoil damage upon using any electric moves, and has a fast falling speed. All of this makes Pichu arguably the easiest fighter to K.O. However, it's also harder to hit due to its small size, has good combo ability, and can deal strong damage.

2024-11-08 18:16:02 +0000 UTC6:54 Sheik's from the Legend of Zelda. Don't know if you guys are planning to get more into Zelda beyond BoTW and ToTK, so I can't really say much more on their character w/o spoiling things. Although, Sheik's been a thing for 27 years, so I don't know if you could really spoil Ocarina of Time anymore. But hey, I'm nice like that.
