Yeah i think I was mixing up the language. Maybe just took inactive as meaning not existing until needed again, forgot they could just hang out with grand daddy angel and the Zenis

Bethany and Ken

That makes sense. Inactive just made me think that they would disappear and then reappear when needed, for them it would feel like a time skip but in reality they would be blinked out of existence and then just brought back when needed. but it makes more sense that they just get to chill on the couch and watch tv until needed

Bethany and Ken

The angels don’t actually go into literal stasis and are immortal so they don’t perish, either. They just go back to the world of the gods where Zeno and the Grand Priest are. The angels are a mystery that have yet to be unraveled so what exactly happens to them when they return isn’t very well understood. What I think you were thinking of was how the Supreme Kais’ lives are directly connected to the lives of their universe’s GoD, so when they die, the GoDs die as well.

Tyler Langston

From what I assume, the angels become "inactive" although I don't think we ever understand what that means. Whether they literally just sit around and chill until they get a new job, or they literally become inactive. The thing is Whis never really seems to have too much of a problem with the universes getting destroyed (at least in terms of his own fate. He does have some care for Beerus and U7) and even this angel clearly had no problems with his universe being destroyed. So I kinda just assume the angels kinda just chill around w/o a job until duty calls.

Chris Johnson

You are correct in thinking the angels go into stasis after their destroyer is gone. I’m not really sure if it gets explained, but I just assumed Zeno or the grand priest let them just watch the rest of the tournament.
