Roshi did take a risk with the Containment Wave by spamming it indeed. However, it was all he could do at that point. Physically, he couldn't go toe to toe with any more of the warriors. but the Containment wave doesn't really operate on a "power scale" like the Kamehameha wave or Galick Gun would..If you're powerful enough, you could simply tank the Galick Gun or Kamehameha... But the Containment wave doesn't deal damage, it is designed to trap foes much MUCH stronger than the user. So with Roshi still in the tournament, it was the only move he really had that could contribute worthwhile, he just didn't calculate Frost reversing it. Also, Roshi missing the jar isn't due to lack of energy control, it was simply due to fatigue. He was so worn out that he physically didn't aim the wave into the jar (kinda like a really tired carpenter swinging a hammer all day, by the end of the day, he's gonna miss the nail more times than he'd like).

I really loved this episode for one thing: while our mcs did fall for pretty much most of Frost's traps, they resolved them just as quick. The audible gasp I did when Roshi broke Vegeta free not even 5 mins after sealing him. Love it. Love Roshi. Love Vegeta.

19:26 Man, I hate that we have to keep meeting Magetta like this. Maybe it's just me being a sucker for robots, cyborgs, and whatnot but I still like him even though he's only a fodder character. If you look closely enough you'll see that the poor guy's crying on his way off the arena :(

Episode Elimination Name Puns o U3’s Liquid Metal Man: Maji Kayo (based on the Japanese phrase for “Seriously?” or “Really?”. In the sub, there’s a running gag characters who get caught in his body always says “majikayo?”) o U6’s Auta Magetta: Based on the Japanese phrase “ottamagetta”, meaning “to be very surprised/shocked” o U7’s Master Roshi: Roshi’s name in Japanese is “Muten Roshi”, which roughly translates to Old Master of Martial Arts or Venerable Old Master. Fighters Remaining: 33/80. This episode made me realize my count was off by 1. Oops. But hey, who’s reading these anyway?

With Roshi’s elimination, a circulating fan theory regarding ending 9 had been shut down. Some had speculated that the order in which the U7 members appear in the credits was teasing the order in which they would be eliminated (that being Krillin, Tien, Vegeta, Android 18, Android 17, Piccolo, Roshi, Frieza, and leaving the pair of Goku and Gohan as U7’s last hope). As you’ve just seen, that sequence has been broken, though it came pretty close to continuing.

Roshi really stepped up this arc. Gained respect from both Vegeta and Beerus and managed to get more eliminations by himself than Krillin and Tien combined (not counting assisted K.Os).
