Ruby in Season 1 Episode 2: “Weapons are an extension of ourselves, they’re a part of us!” Pyrrha on Aura: “Aura is the manifestation of our souls.” Pyrrha on weapons: “ALL of our weapons are conduits for Aura.”

2024-11-25 04:55:47 +0000 UTCif you look closely as Ruby passes one of the waterfall mirrors there is not a refection of Ruby but that of her mother Summer Rose, i wounder what that's about.

2024-11-24 18:47:15 +0000 UTCIt's so hard to tell age in RWBY. He for sure looks older (hadn't noticeed the white streaks) but I wouldn't have guessed 40 or 50 🤗

Saludos 🇲🇽✌🏻

2024-11-24 16:19:25 +0000 UTCI think you're right to notice that Ruby's ongoing turmoil wasn't expressed in the punderstorm. Partly there's pacing reasons for not including it in an episode with so much exposition and the sailing of Bumbleby, but there's also been more than a hint at this point that Ruby keeps bottling up her feelings and shoving them down to be a beacon (pun slightly intended) of hope for the people around her. So while we might see things as the audience because the camera focuses on them, they're a cinematic convention rather than her actual expression in the moment. In the same way that there's not as much visual depiction of the aftermath of violence--the characters see what it really looks like for someone to get stabbed with a sword or have their arm cut off, which is different from what we see on screen.

2024-11-24 13:03:44 +0000 UTCIt's definitely a "blink and you'll miss it" moment that can be easily missed. There's a similar moment in the previous episode where Ruby again sees a brief reflection that isn't her own when she meets the Blacksmith. It doesn't help that Ruby and Summer look so much alike.

2024-11-24 01:15:02 +0000 UTCBefore it aired, it was the one of the episodes that CRWBY had warned about NOT posting spoilers during it's initial airing. Some fans at first thought it was a death scene, while others who were more hopeful had anticipated the official Bumbleby confessions. Basically it was the episode that broke Twitter and most social media when it was revealed. And for the episode 6 Bumbleby truthers, it was their validation: Reason? There are other episode where development occurred but most Bumbleby turning points in their relationship mostly occurred in an episode 6 of certain volumes: V1 ch6: Yang and Blake becoming partners in the Emerald Forest V2 ch6: "Burning the Candle" episode where Yang and Blake have a heart to heart in the classroom. V3 ch6: (This one is debatable since it's more of a Yang scene. It's the "Inciting Incident" in her story arc that ties Blake in when in the next episode, Blake mentions briefly about her history with her previous partner) V6 ch6: This was more of the Blake was about to die by the Apathy Grimm ep but we see in the background that Yang finally takes the initiative to grab Blake's hand and run away with her. V7 ch6: "Night Off" episode and Blake and Yang hang out and go dancing meanwhile Nora and Ren argue about how something more is going on between Yang and Blake while paralleling their own relationship. And of course V9 ch6: (The Bumbleby episode) Some insight (About Burning the Candle - Commentary) 97. Monty: and we get like, relationship stuff too. You know it's like they're part- like within the teams they- these two were originally partners. Like day one of school 98. Kerry: Yeah, they really fit together and stuff, so it really made sense 99. Monty: Yeah these- it happened all of the sudden. The characters just compliment each other. Blake and Yang, Ruby and Weiss. And so Yang really looks out for her, and she just kind of like- It's one of those things where she just kind of, you know- she doesn’t need to talk about stuff, but if she’s gonna talk to someone about it, it would probably be Blake. ----- What's great about the Blake and Yang scene was the intentional juxpostion comparing it to the person that Blake was in early Volume 1. Remember her line to Ruby? Blake: "Unfortunately, the real world isn't the same as a fairy tale." We also learn that she's quite fond of books in that same volume so she secretly wants that whole fairy tale story but cynically doesn't think that's possible until Yang steps into her life. In the Director's Commentary for V9 ch6: Eddy Rivas (Writer): Eddy says that the Punderstorm was the plot device that allowed Chapter 6 to accomplish all its goals, (meeting Jaune, advancing the Ever After plotline, Alyx and Lewis, Bumbleby, etc.) Kerry Shawcross (Show Runner/Writer/Director): “We could have had an amazing scene on Remnant, but there’s something special about having them do it here [in the Ever After.]” Kerry Shawcross: “Blake has been bisexual for the longest time - to her, I’m talking from a character perspective. Maybe (why) it’s taken this a little while... (Reason number one) is because we want it to feel right. But (reason number two) is this is something that’s new for Yang, and she’s realizing something about herself.” Cue Monty's interview with Afterbuzz: (Snippet from Transcript) Afterbuzz: "...Tumblr asking if any queer characters in RWBY, any bi or gay or lesbian Monty: Sure, absolutely! Um the best part about that is, you know maybe they're there now because because, they're kids so they're,...we're on a path to try to help them to discover themselves so I mean, I don't know, I don't think they even need to make that decision right away because...as we write these characters, we learn about them and kind of help them figure themselves out. (https://youtube.com/clip/UgkxZ3nQzeKKhvTLZyz4HdSPrJEZJCMr2-0s) --------- After the airing of, "Burning the Candle" episode in Volume 2 where both are in a classroom while Yang tries to talk some sense into by sharing her trauma. Monty had posted this on Twitter: "All good romance is earned." https://x.com/montyoum/status/508688160771960832 And when you hear that originally Monty wanted this wonderland this to happen much earlier in his original RWBY Road Map it's crazy. But the pairing of these two was a long time coming. Here Arryn Zech (voice of Blake) accidentally spills the beans about her character's fate in the first few minutes of a recorded livestream that she didn't know was taping at the time. It was one of the earliest Table Reads for their script back in 2013. At first no one knew who she was referring to (Note: And you'll see Monty in the back walking past in his Blonde wig LOL): https://www.youtube.com/live/dleqek092RM?si=xB9bHvXNp6YAoyXw Then it was confirmed 9 Volumes later during a podcast with Barbara and Arryn (Yang and Blake). This was a podcast to commemorate the episode with Bumbleby's union. They discuss how long they've had to keep this secret LOL. https://youtu.be/MyhtrJy0jo0?si=cvuYqdNbvIvT27Fs

2024-11-24 01:07:59 +0000 UTCI’m not saying it wasn’t planned, but I don’t think those two can be trusted to be unbiased on regards to bumblebee. Honestly the small hint in Red Like Roses Part 1 makes me think it was l planned ahead more than anything those two say. (No shade at them, they seem like sweet people) For the record the hint is “Black the *beast* descends from shadows Yellow *beauty* burns gold Get it Beauty and the Beast? Though I’m not sure why it matters if it were planned from the beginning or if they saw the character development and fan reaction and decided to go for it. It doesn’t take away from it at all.

2024-11-24 01:01:07 +0000 UTCYeah the kiss was completely spoiled for me by a YouTube thumbnail. I had been a couple weeks behind on the show and it came up in my feed, wasn’t even looking for anything RWBY related at the time. Really wished I’d been able to go in blind. I wasn’t the biggest fan Bumblebee fan but the scene kind of sold me on it . I still think the whole romance could have been handled a bit better overall though.

2024-11-24 00:58:29 +0000 UTCNot to mention Arryn basically spilled the beans in 2014. They were doing a livestream and Arryn Zech asked out loud if she could talk about her character and another female character being in a relationship. Monty Oum very audibly told her, "Not yet." and she kept her mouth shut after that.

2024-11-23 22:16:47 +0000 UTCyeah they did such a wonderful job laying the groundwork for this for MANY seasons! It explains why Yang had some really intense reactions to Blake running away from things earlier in the series, and why the end of Season 6 was such a big deal for their relationship. "I won't break my promise." // "I know you won't." This all felt very natural. So beautifully done.

2024-11-23 22:14:55 +0000 UTCI like the changes in Jaune's character due to his increased age and experience, even if some of these make him "less nice" -- he's actually more impatient and has to remind himself to be gentler with RWBY because to them no time has passed, while he's had years to mull over his failures and become more jaded. Also, that fun throwaway line previously by Weiss -- about how the Rusted Knight was handsome -- and now she's making googly eyes at Jaune with him revealed as said Knight, lol. (Remember how much she avoided him in Seasons 1-2?) Can we start shipping "Jeiss" yet? :D I really love Blake in this episode, she's so emotionally self-aware and manages to thread the needle, boldly disclosing her feelings to Yang but in such a way that Yang isn't put off (even if she is taken aback for a few seconds). Yang meanwhile needs a little more time to realize her feelings towards Blake. Back in Episode 2, Yang cannot pay the auction price for her arm -- "knowing what it is to feel loved" is what Jinxy asks for -- but now she finally realizes she does know. I always cry through this bit, the dialogue feels so true to the characters and describe what's important to them. The Cat has some of the best lines + line deliveries in the show this season. He also "talks around" so much, so you can't be sure you're getting the truth. Well, as far as Ruby getting to see her "dark place" -- I won't spoil anything, but buckle up for the remaining four episodes, because this ride's about there now. You did get to see ONE thing, though, just very briefly, as Ruby walks by a mirror this episode; look at her reflection carefully.

2024-11-23 22:10:59 +0000 UTCMonty Oum confirmed that Blake and Yang falling in love, was something that was planned from the beginning of the series!! He told Voice actresses Barbara Dunkleman(Yang) and Arryn Zech(Blake) that their characters would eventually fall in love. They just didn't know when or how it would happen. I think the kiss scene was so beautifully done, and I couldn't be happier with how they did it. 9 volumes of development between them, and it was totally worth it! If Monty was still here I know he would be so proud of it!! 🖤💛🐝

2024-11-23 22:04:38 +0000 UTCBunny-dear is known as a Jackalope. A jackrabbit with antelope antlers. Also the next episode gives a content warning but doesn't go into detail (which it should). Same with the episode after. I can tell you what those warnings are if you want. Or do you think it'll be too spoilery?
Sasha
2024-11-23 20:59:21 +0000 UTCWe see how disconnected Ruby is from herself & her "fighting spirit" where she's so hopeful & sure that they'll figure things out. She's currently in the darkest place she's been mentally & feeling more disconnected than before. Jaune is definitely over 40, pushing 50 lol he has the white streaks & it has to be enough time between Alyx's return & her story to become a children's book. He certainly is "mature" 🤣🤣

2024-11-23 20:36:12 +0000 UTCThat kiss scene was the last thing that was spoiled for me because of freaking Youtube thumbnails that love to show spoilers, and it pisses me off. Still a very nice scene though, and even more delving into the minds of our protagonists. I also feel like Jaune's line after seeing Yang and Blake kissing is probably Miles' actual comment about it. I like your theory about Luis, and I think I'm gonna follow you with that one. It does feel like, when the cat says that she let him there instead of taking him through the door, he wasn't actually talking about himself as a cat, plus the fact that he didn't say a word about Luis when he spoke of them reaching the tree. He was sacrificed to the tree, then given a purpose and reborn as a story character, except that it left him stuck inside a loop where he essentially guided himself to his own betrayal at the hands of his sister. There might even be a forgotten part of the story where he tried to warn himself, or tried to prevent Alyx from discarding him, but since the "ascension" takes your memories away, he probably only figured out the truth at a later point in the story.

2024-11-23 20:05:29 +0000 UTCWhat makes Ruby's reluctance to take her weapon even worse, is if you think back to Volume 1, she is obsessed with weapons and loves her own, more than she likes other people at first. And now she doesn't even want to look at it.

2024-11-23 18:21:12 +0000 UTCIf you look back at this episode with Ruby, Weiss, and Jaune you mentioned we didn't see the mirror of what Ruby saw but we as an audience do see a reflection when Ruby walks by and it's not her own, probably her mom like how she saw her as well in the last episode
Geo23
2024-11-23 18:00:11 +0000 UTCI think Ruby did not look at the water mirrors because she is repressing all of her feelings and doesn't want to confront it, but us as spectators we can actually see Summer's reflection
So
2024-11-23 17:59:18 +0000 UTCThey had to LITERALLY force the two of them together to get that out the way. Least favorite romance in the show.

2024-11-23 17:40:24 +0000 UTCto be honest your video kind of filled my emptiness and sadness after watching the Arcane finale today (it's been a long time since any series destroyed me so internally) I can't wait for the next episodes, and there will be a lot going on
7Wolfmoon
2024-11-23 17:31:48 +0000 UTCit's 'blink and you miss it' (and Ruby doesn't see either) but the first mirror they pass shows the same figure reflected in the axe in the last chapter (the person you theorised as either her mom or an older Ruby)
Lucifer_Crowe
2024-11-23 17:29:09 +0000 UTCYou missed it but if you look in the water mirrors Ruby passes in front of one of them and in the reflection there was a woman in a white cloak walking in Ruby's place.

2024-11-23 17:23:09 +0000 UTCIn the run-up to this episode, every member of the crew were out warning everyone "Nobody will tag spoilers don't go on social media until you've watched." You can probably guess why. If you look again during the sequence you can see someone else in Ruby's reflection after she and Weiss pass through the door at 10:20
