Thanks for sharing that history. Very interesting getting to know more of the ins and outs of the fighting community and why games may under perform

Wow, so much to check out. Thanks for sharing this!

4:05 I do know that this character (Lowain) is meant to be the "joke character" of GBF Versus. In universe, he's a cook that isn't all too powerful, so his moveset consists of him and his brothers doing all sorts of strange shenanigans. The devs actually did this clever thing of making his victory animation a scene of him wrapping a story that he's telling his brothers, implying that the whole match was just a visualization of his story (and how he's able to fight characters who he stands no chance against in canon). It's character concepts like these that draw my attention to fighting games, even if I don't always play them.

3:22 Ladiva is a character that identifies as she/her, despite the physique. She uses her expression of love for all living things to her strength and wrestling-like fighting style. Learned this through character trailers and some of SugarPunch's videos (the guy who you two once watched a Design Shop on Dante from). Kinda like Ribrianne if she weren't completely obnoxious and pretentious, and actually understood love.

Arc System Works is really incredible when it comes to high fidelity anime-style graphics. In case you haven't heard they're the studio behind many big 2D fighters like Guilty Gear, BlazBlue, and Dragon Ball Fighterz.

I'm not very familiar with Granblue Fantasy myself, though I do know some history related to this game from my monitoring of fighting game releases. This game initially launched back in early 2020 as just "Granblue Fantasy Versus" (no "Rising"). The game failed to gain notoriety at launch because of a few key reasons: 1) Many felt the smaller roster size and amount of content did not justify the $60 price. 2) With Covid 19 shutting down fighting game tournaments and the game coming out in the U.S. on March of 2020, it could not be celebrated as the sports title it was planned to be. 3) The game did not have rollback net code. This is something that modern fighting game are expected to have by default. To try to put it simply, it's code that allows players to have a more reliable experience when playing online. Due to reason 2, this meant that players were forced to play solely online (where the game's infrastructure was weakest). 4) GBF Versus had a staggered release across its release in Japan and the U.S., with the U.S. getting the launch a month later. Didn't help that the PC release was staggered to. This hurts an online game where you want as many territories being able to play together as possible. Now, as it's release as Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising in Dec 2023, rollback net code was included and it was able to thrive in pro fighting game tournaments. Seems to be doing much better for itself.

So Granblue as a series I’m not too familiar with, but from what I can gather from friends that play it, it’s basically a Gacha game that’s been around for more than a decade. Apparently even pioneered the genre of Gacha games. Think like Genshin Impact or Honkai Star Rail which are much younger compared to Granblue. It was only a few years ago that this series really started expand and go into other genres like Fighting games or Action JRPG (Japanese Role Playing Games). And I believe that one girl with the purple hair and horns at 6:18 is the most popular character of the franchise. Her name is Narmaya. I’m only assuming she’s the most popular because out of all the characters I’ve seen related to the series, her face pops up the most from my friend group and advertisements.

Granblue Fantasy is a mobile game series, versus Rising is a fighting spin off and there's also an action rpg that came out not long ago called Granblue Fantasy Relink that has a lot of story. Versus also has a pretty lengthy story mode to enjoy, you guys could also react to character interactions in versus, the DLC characters Sky bound arts since They weren't included in the video, character trailers are pretty good too. You could also check out Relinks's Skybound arts too.

Also there is an anime

The first 2 with the dragon are essentially the same person but there's 2 different universes I believe so one the main character is a guy and ones a girl
