Dragon Ball Z Kakarot Part 6 -Namek

It's more of an rpg not just a fighting game. You probably focused more on the battling but i was doing sidequests all day long in kakarot lol

I agree slightly with you. We got an open world dbz game so i'm not spoiled about it. I'm just happy this game exists & it not translating to a good rpg is bogus in my humble opinion. Kakarot won so many rewards & is still popular today becuz it is a great rpg but i do agree that there's so much more they could've done story wise. Even in japan vtubers still play this game heavily. Especially the female vtubers but it's not a perfect game but again this is the only open world dbz rpg we have, the very first & for the very first it did a really good job imo

J Sai I used a lot of my free time outside of work to grind for like a month or two.

Nice! Watching Ken and Beth play the game made we wanna join in on the fun, but I have little room for that atm due to adulting 😑

Ken had a Vegeta moment at the beginning, “My wife wants me to feed this turtle” 😂😂😂 Great gameplay, and kudos to Bethany with the dodges from Dodoria, that was epic! I had damn near the most fun playing the Namek Saga, playing as Vegeta and owning everyone. Turtle can be fed later, we gotta let Vegeta do some ass kicking first

Oh yeah absolutely! Forgot to mention that I've still been enjoying myself in my above comment. Nearly finished with the Buu Saga atm.

Don’t get me wrong, I liked Kakarot as a “turn your brain off, mash one button and grind” kind of game for when it came out. But as a way to experience DB’s story it falls really flat. I think it’s why the DLC’s (the first two excluded) feel so much better, since it’s material that forces them to get creative with how they expand it. It’s the same reason as to why Xenoverse 2 still gets so much success these days, since they left behind the whole “Play through the main story for millionth time” and just started leaning into ridiculous “what if” storylines. Either way, I still think there’s a lot to like about these games; the soundtrack, particularly the Kikuchi remixes, give me so much life.

I feel like that's part of why Kakarot hasn't overtaken DB Fusions as my favorite Dragon Ball RPG (and maybe DB game in general depending on my mood). Fusions may not capture the original material's speed in combat, but since it wasn't tied to the original story it could play around with fights and story beats a lot more.

Almost like DBZ doesn’t translate all that well to an RPG just due to its structure

Shadowpunch13

almost like it's a fighting game.

This kind of starts the ridiculous trend of Kakarot needlessly inserting fights into the main story where there was none originally. Cui I can kinda understand, but Gohan and Krillin kick Dodoria once each and then escape, the entire point is that they need to be quick. In the game it makes it seem like Frieza and everyone else just sit by while Dodoria gets the shit kicked out of him by two runts (who should absolutely not be able to combat him at all). Unfortunately this is not the last time this happens and it’s kinda obnoxious.

Thought we weren't getting this today due to holiday. Guess it was just a tad late. Now I have something to listen to during work. 👍
