In all fallouts you can create your own character and stats, in fallout 1 and 2 however because they are old 2d isometric games you can only change the stats and name. The man named "Talius" is the storytellers custom character with his own custom backstory. The man named "ed" is in reference to a perk called the "wild wasteland" in fallout new vegas where you would get random references to modern day pop culture in game or some secret overpowered weapons like the holy hand grenades. The music that plays at the start of his mention is the same type of music that plays in game when you discover a wild wasteland reference or item. Episode 2 is about the preset characters of Fallout 1. The older isometric games from before Bethesda took over named 1, 2, Tactics, and Brotherhood of steel allowed you to select from a group of premade characters with a short descriptive background. The newer 3d games however dont have this option just going with a common backstory with all the characters such as "The Lone Wanderer(Fallout 3)", "The Courier(Fallout New Vegas)", "The Sole Survivor(Fallout 4)", or "The Vault Dwellers(Fallout76)" Fallout 1 like all the fallouts has multiple choices or options that you can choose that effect the end game and in the games up to Fallout New Vegas you get a recap of what you accomplished when you reach the end. In fallout 1 the final questline is a timed quest(as mentioned with the water purifier and the super mutant master) the storyteller chose to have his quests end in failure though im sure that would have some impact on the lore of the New California Republic cause as mentioned in the video The main characters of 1 and 2 go on to influence the future of said republic
