I read on a YouTube comment that Dimitri's spear broke after 20 uses, which is the limit of uses on fire emblem three houses. If it's true It is a genius detail.

2023-08-28 09:52:25 +0000 UTCIt’s a bit hard to tell cause it was just a shadow, but I think the demon who showed up in the end was Zodd, a rival of Guts. And you guys were right on the money, they came to collect his soul, but Dimitri went on to fight them. And yeah, scaling Dimitri to others characters is risky, but I think they were specifically measuring the damage output Dimitri could potentially do, since he is a rather new character in the franchise. But as a Death Battle, it was a good one.

2023-08-27 20:13:14 +0000 UTCSo yeah, at the end, Guts ran out of blood, but the Berserker Armour kept him going until the end. Dimitri probably used his slow movement ability to delay Guts' final swing. He was also strong enough to die standing up, holding his sword up, badass. The brand on Guts' neck is basically a mark giving demons ownership of Gut's soul. Griffith, when he became a demon himself, sacrificed his army to hell (literally, if you die with that brand your soul goes to hell). It also attracts demons to you like moths to a flame and they showed up at the end for Guts' soul. Dimitiri, never quite lost his sense of honour and respected Guts as a fellow warrior and felt obligated to fight to protect his soul. I am a far bigger fan of Guts, but I like Dimitri's character and this is probably the most respectful death I've seen in a Death Battle, they gave Guts a badass death and Demitri fought on to protect his soul with just his spearhead. Jonathon Joestar vs Tanjiro Kamado and Popeye vs Saitama are good if you want other 'respectful KOs'.
