Goku saying he wanted to leave the fight to the next generation is part of it but they kept emphasizing that Goku was incredibly drained from using SSJ3. Goku could've possibly killed buu but also understand when the characters are talking, they're talking from their point of view. Goku has pride so he's going to say that but Piccolo also was extremely aware of how tired Goku was. That form is a B to use.

It's designed to show the audience that the broadcast is breaking for commercial, and quite literally "catch" your attention when the broadcast returns.

2023-09-01 00:04:42 +0000 UTCI agree that it wasn't necessary. At least in the way they wrote it. They were trying to establish that Buu was just looking for acceptance as something other than the monster he was created to be, and a kiss from the woman is how he believed that would look. This is of course something you only come to understand in hind sight. When she rejected him, he lost his temper and ate her, but at least he respected her lack of consent enough to not force himself on her. Which is more than you can say about Roshi who lacks Buu's excuse of not having a fully developed mind.

2023-08-30 19:36:29 +0000 UTCI think this episodes highlights Goku's character that he is optimistic no matter how dire the situation is and looks to the bright side also pure of heart, possessing no negative feelings or thoughts. He is highly loyal to his friends and family and is extremely protective of them as a result

2023-08-30 01:27:59 +0000 UTCAkira Toriyama kind of expounded on Goku's mindset a little. In both the manga (And the Japanese language version) Goku is honestly kind of a selfish character. He's not malicious, and he it outraged by acts of cruelty and will fight someone who is abusing people if he seems them doing it, he's also not quite as heroic as he's made out to be. Goku doesn't want to be the world's defender. He just wants to fight strong guys, and while he would certainly protect an innocent person from being hurt if they were right in front of him, he isn't necessarily motivated to go out of his way to protect the universe. It just so happens that he's been drawn into conflict because of his friends or family often being directly involved and/or his pursuit of strong opponents has caused him to stumble into it. There are only a couple of times in the show where Goku has outright been motivated to protect the planet, as opposed to just either directly protecting his loved ones or "This guy is real strong. Imma go punch him." Goku's been trying to fob off the role of "earth's protector" onto other people for a while now. Gohan seemed the most likely candidate, and now Trunks and Goten. He doesn't want the job. He just wants to train and fight people. He's got enough sense of responsibility that he wouldn't put the earth in someone else's hands unless he thought they were up to the job, but the second someone comes along he thinks could do the job for him he's out of there.

2023-08-29 20:55:17 +0000 UTCBeing in the manga doesn't mean it adds value to the story. Not all of Akira Toriyama's decisions are good, which is exactly why he has editors. The very same editors that have repeatedly stopped him from making very dumb decisions regarding the story. At what point does sexual harassment come up with Buu again? Has it ever really been an important part of his character? No. It's there for "comic relief" and titilation. The audience already knows Buu isn't exactly a good person. We know what he's about. The behaviors he has shown are what makes him who he his. However, having him sexually harass a random woman doesn't reinforce what we already knew of him. This is new information. He hasn't shown to be that kind of character, and he doesn't exhibit this behavior at any point afterward. Even if he does do something similar later on, it's so brief that it never goes on to be a defining characteristic of his. It's out of character, it's disgusting, and it adds no value to the story.

2023-08-29 20:14:39 +0000 UTCIt's in the manga, though. And it's supposed to be weird. Buu isn't exactly supposed to represent a good person...

2023-08-29 20:03:25 +0000 UTCI wish Kai hadn't included the Buu kissing scene. It's gross/creepy and adds nothing of value to the overall story.
