one thing I noticed is that even though the protagonist doesn't have the vision of the spiritual like the girl, his ability to feel is greater than hers, or at least has more reach

Shit." and checklisting all the nasty horror things we've seen in anime, manga or games. And even with that background knowledge of what horrifying thing could pop up in that environment, you can never truly predict what thing would pop up next.
