In the manga, Goku estimated that Gohan was STILL stronger than Buu at this point (which just goes to show how stupidly powerful Gohan is right now). He lost because of Buu's head games. He was still capable of beating Buu physically, but he was just too rattled. In the anime, I feel that Buu is unambiguously stronger; it's not the first, or the last departure from the manga in that respect.

Although when it comes to the Kienzan and Taiyoken, Krillin is still king. Which is hilarious, because I think the Taiyoken was originally Tien's thing.

And goku has seen krillin use the destructo disc quite a few times This episode is one of my favorite of the series

2023-10-24 20:48:44 +0000 UTCSo much of the Buu saga does not progress the plot, Super saiyan 3 Goku, Gotenks fusion, and 'ultimate' Gohan. The decision to replace Gohan as the main character right at the near the end, after so much build up with the way the cell saga ended, starting with the whole highschool stuff, the Z-sword and elder kai power is just odd, but ultimately the author felt Gohan wasn't suited for the role. There is a great conculsion to the arc with remaining characters, even though they made up total BS reasons for these characters to be alive at the last moment.

2023-10-24 20:20:06 +0000 UTCRemember how Tien was leagues behind 17/18 and even more behind Semi-perfect Cell (The one with the ugly mouth) and despite that, he managed to stall Semi-perfect Cell with his attack? To have an idea of where Buu is, Dabura is on par with PERFECT Cell and he was nothing compared to Buu. Buu then went through many transformations and is far, far more dangerous than he was before. It's no wonder why Tien's tri-beam or Kikoho no longer has an effect on him.

Honestly, it's for the best, Gohan gets really disrespected in this arc compared to the others. Also y'alls reaction to Vegeta was everything I had hoped it would be.
