Baldurs Gate 3 Which Class is Right for You

More Baldur's Gate 3 content as we look at the major classes in the game to see which one we want to play as and have in our party.

If it helps you decide what to play, it might be good to know the default classes of all of the origin characters, as they can all be picked up into your party very early in the game. While you can respec characters, including origin characters, the defaults you will have in your party are Cleric, Fighter, Rogue, Wizard, Barbarian, and Warlock. Also, I know that Ken was talking about Warlock and Paladin - you can do both on the same character via multiclassing and it's actually a very powerful combo since a Warlock can be turned into a very competent melee warrior with one of the Pact options and both classes strongly favor the Charisma stat. My first run ended with my main character at Paladin 7 / Warlock 5 wrapped in plate armor and wielding a greatsword - it's not a hard combo to play and it can be super tanky while also dealing great damage and passing all the conversation checks outside of combat. Bard also mixes well with either of those classes, as it is yet another Charisma-based class.

One big thing is that you can respec or change your class after you progress a few minutes into the storyline (assuming you don't miss one spot). So, I wouldn't worry too much about it, you can just pick what seems cool/fun, then if you don't like it or want to try something else, swap. You can also do this for the origin characters as well. So for example if you hate Shadowheart (for some unfathomable reason) but really love Astarion, and need a healer for your group, you can just change his class. Also, a lot of the spells have overlap between classes; Warlocks can also cast vicious mockery.
