Left-handed people were often forced to write with their right hands until recent decades. My father is left-handed, but writes with his right hand because he would actually get into trouble at school for writing with his left - his handwriting is terrible as a result.

I’m left handed myself, so during my first year of school when we were learning how to write, my teacher forced me to write with my right hand for that exact reason. This was in the early 90s, so not that long ago in the grand scheme of things. It’s wild that some of these beliefs were still held until very recently, maybe even to this day, but I don’t know.
