Yea Coffee was brought in by the Ottoman Empire and wasnt native to europe. as such most monarchs didnt like the influence it had over there subjects and it was referred to as a "devils drink" Remember you guys arent seeing everything in the game just the important cut scenes. There are a few side quests and stuff you can do.
