Yeah it definitely is impressive. it’s funny you talk about how great his guitar work (which it definitely is) because his main instrument is actually the drums.

2023-12-18 21:51:09 +0000 UTCWe are glad she got more fully fleshed out as the volumes went on because at first, while we loved her, she did seem very surface level and not much to her other than being a badass. Which is why as much as it sucked seeing her broken and down from losing her arm, it was great for her character development.

2023-12-18 21:50:43 +0000 UTCWe like that take 😃

2023-12-18 21:49:12 +0000 UTCThanks for giving us this info especially for Path of Isolation. And yes, we ship BlackSun more than Bumblebee, but there are moments in the show between those two that are pretty hard to ignore as well. Will be interested to see how their relationships develop

2023-12-18 21:48:56 +0000 UTCThat's true we don't think about that because we watch it after the season so the characters have already gone through so much growth instead of thinking about it happening during the season

2023-12-18 21:46:19 +0000 UTCDidn't know one guy played all the instruments. That is super impressive

2023-12-18 21:45:15 +0000 UTCYes, Bumbleby is the ship name for Blake and Yang, because their colors are black and yellow. Can't wait for volume 6!

2023-12-17 23:05:40 +0000 UTCJeff said it was meant for both of them and it makes use of both characters leit motifs

2023-12-17 19:44:50 +0000 UTC"all things must die" is i think Raven and Cinder back and forth. It plays during their fight

2023-12-17 07:44:56 +0000 UTCThe Triumph is the third (and currently final) RWBY song that was added to Rock Band as DLC [The first and second being This Will Be The Day and Time To Say Goodbye]. While it is my least favorite out of the three it is also the one I have the highest score on. Though that is mostly due to the lower vocal tone of an older Casey while the first two are just too darn high for my poor male vocal cords to reach

2023-12-17 06:28:16 +0000 UTCFun fact: Path to Isolation’s working title was Mirror Mirror 0.5

2023-12-17 00:54:16 +0000 UTCAlso just her being a pessimist/bandit. She has the mentality that death is inevitable, why should she rush to it like her brother/friends. But crossing her she sure as hell is gonna bring you yours

2023-12-17 00:23:23 +0000 UTCI don't think anyone has mentioned it yet, but also Ignite, is both a callback to the shorts pre-volume 1, and a direct reference to Yang losing her arm "Scathing eyes ask that we be symmetrical, one sided and easily processed. Yet every misshapen spark's unseen beauty is greater than its would be judgement." is the quote from the Yellow trailer and Monty told Yang's voice actress that it's supposed to be foreshadowing. Probably one of my favorite songs from this show because even though the lyrics showcase Yang's badass personality on the surface, there's so much more going underneath them with how she views herself currently

2023-12-16 23:36:03 +0000 UTCI think ravens song is about the demise of conspirators like Salem and Ozpin as will as there pawns from her POV

2023-12-16 20:59:04 +0000 UTCI know. They just commented that Weiss's song seemed out of place given where she is in the series at the moment. Just pointing out a reason for that.

2023-12-16 20:19:04 +0000 UTCI know that RWBY is a once a week video now but ngl I was really hoping we would get lucky with the 1st episode of volume 6 with the soundtrack 😆 Either way great video yall I really love Path to Isolation especially when you see how it links up with the other Weiss songs

2023-12-16 19:30:55 +0000 UTCSo couple of things: The Triumph is sort of the bridge song in this Volume - and by that I mean it's acknowledging the things that have already come - the Battle of Beacon, the loss of Pyrrha, Yang's arm being lost, etc. At the same time, it's giving you hints of what's to come - the girls are strengthening their resolve, they've determined they're going to fight this fight against Salem ("the Triumph will be ours"), as well as more hints as to the things they will learn as they continue this fight and this journey. Second: "The Path of Isolation" is definitely a Weiss song, but it's a Weiss pre-Beacon and pre-meeting the rest of team RWBY. "It starts with the unexpected loss of something dear" - most fans that I know believe this refers to the moment she told Yang about in the Volume - when her father admitted that he didn't love her mother (and by extension Weiss) and began drinking so much. Remember Weiss mentioned "a big dinner" for her birthday, both of her parents coming to her singing recitals, etc. - and all of that stopped after her father admitted his dispassion for his wife and family. The rest of the song talks about Weiss building up the emotional armor she was wearing in the first Volume - the cold, haughty perfectionist. It was her way to protect herself. One of the final lines of the song "Mirror what's this thing I see / who is staring back at me / A stranger to my heart has filled my mind / Mirror, help me / Who am I?" sums up everything that led to the pre-Beacon Weiss. And this was the song that played during her character short, and we saw at the end of that short Winter training her and telling her "You'll have to get better if you ever want to leave here" - here being the family manor and the cold, loveless home she was growing up in. Third: Others have mentioned it, but "Smile" isn't a Blake song - it's an Ilia song, so I won't go into it because others have already commented on it. Fourth: "All Things Must DIe" - this one is debatable. Yes, it's Raven's image in the song, but this could either be Raven singing to Cinder (again, because this played during their fight) or Cinder to Raven. It could be a Salem song if you squint but given the context of the song and where it played, it's more likely either Raven or Cinder. "Murder, Unkindness, Conspiracy" is a great line in the song, because of the word play - on the surface, you've got the words at their face value: Death, Cruelty, Scheming, etc. But there's another layer - a "murder of crows" is a flock of crows, an "unkindness of ravens" is a flock of ravens, and a "conspiracy" is another word that refers to a flock of ravens. Personally, I think this is Raven to Cinder, because it's Raven basically telling Cinder "you're not the badass you think you are, eventually you're going to die, I'm going to be the one to end you right here and right now," etc. The only clear, unambiguously Salem song we've had so far is the one that played at the end of Volume 3 - "Divide" because she was openly taunting Ozpin in that song. Don't really have anything to say about Ignite - great Yang song. "That's all that matters" is probably one of my least favorite songs of the whole series - it just feels cold and feels like Yang is still blaming Blake - that is absolutely why I cannot get into the Bumblebee ship with Yang and Blake - it doesn't feel genuine to me. I feel like Sun did way more for Blake from Vol 2 through Vol 5 than Yang did - and Yang's bitterness over Blake running and not seeing her side of things until Weiss pointed it out - yeah. I just don't buy the Yang/Blake ship. I will always be a BlackSun (Blake/Sun) shipper.

2023-12-16 19:19:26 +0000 UTCJust want to say is to take note of when the songs played in the show for some more info. after the title song is three songs that took place during the shorts before the season started. that's the reason why Weiss’s song seems out of place since her and yang’s shorts took place before season 1 so more a view of what they felt at that point, With Weiss being isolated and yang being more impulsive. Ilia's song plays while Blake and her were talking about the past and seems to me it was her corrupted view of what her parents would have wanted from her. And Ravens song plays during her and cinders fight. So possible that song is both her and cinder wanting to kill each other.

2023-12-16 18:39:04 +0000 UTCNot sure if you’ve been told but the songs in RWBY are basically a product of two people Jeff Williams and his daughter Casey. Jeff wrote and played all the instruments for the songs and did male vocals aside from the rap verses which are Lamar Hall with Casey doing the female vocals. Until Jeff retired after Volume 8 then Casey took over as songwriter with her friend and bandmate Martin Gonzalez for Volume 9. For volumes 6 and 7 there are a few songs that have some guest vocalist as well.

2023-12-16 17:53:41 +0000 UTCYeah I’ve always felt like it’s a corrupted version of what her parents told her. Bumblebee is by far the most popular ship for fans of the series so I hope they get used to it. Haha

2023-12-16 17:49:41 +0000 UTCClarification on Smile: This is Illia's parents singing to her. Because she was a chameleon Faunus, they were able to pass her off as human and enroll her in a good school. This is their advice to her, to blend in and bide her time until the moment is right to strike. I also think you could be onto something with it being a corruption of their actual words by Adam. We know Illia's parents died when she was young.

2023-12-16 17:45:57 +0000 UTCHey guys! 👋 New to the patreon but with your Volume 6 reactions starting soon I wanted to get ahead. A couple notes on the soundtrack: The song Smile is actually about Ilia. Her parents are the ones singing to her about going to Atlas. As you mentioned in All That Matters, Bumblebee is the ship name for Blake and Yang. There are many ships and many inventive names for ships in RWBY but this one seems to be one of if not the most popular. Feel the buzz! 🐝 Thanks for a great end to Volume 5 and I can’t wait for next week for you to react to my favorite volume in 6. 😊
