YAAAAAY VOLUME 6 MY FAVORITE!

Lara

True (and again trying to avoid spoilers here) it's easy to view this as a lie of omission, because we are mostly seeing this from RWBY's perspective - yes, we're "third person" because of the way the show is animated, but Ruby and her team are the main characters, so our bias should be the same as their bias. But looking at it from Oz's point of view puts things a bit more in context. He's an "adult" (yes, currently in the body of a 14-year-old, but his emotions/memories/reactions are going to be from an adult's perspective) and he's been stripped of all the allies and resources he used to have save for Qrow until they get to Atlas, and no matter how good they are, Ruby and the others are half-trained at best and they don't have the full context of knowledge and experience that Oz has, or even the amount that Qrow has. A better way to look at it might be from a military standpoint - in a military, soldiers are given orders/information they need for the mission at hand. They aren't told the full scope of the campaign or every piece of intel that the command structure has unless it is relevant for the mission. They certainly don't get to demand information of their commanders the way Yang did in Volume 5. It's still open to debate as to whether or not Oz is making the right choices with what he tells them and when, but if you view it in that way, it makes it a little more palatable and less like a lie of omission, because again he gives the information about the Relic when it becomes relevant. Grimm attacks are common in Remnant - we don't know 100% for a fact that the Grimm attacked the train because of the Relic - they could have just been drawn to the people on the train. Whichever company is responsible for the train had to hire two professional Huntsmen to guard the train, which implies that attacks on trains are common enough that it is a necessary investment. We have no context for HOW powerful the pull of the Relic is, just that it exists. After all, the Relics have been locked inside Vaults under the schools for a really long time at this point, and the schools were not constantly coming under attack. That could mean one of two things - either something about the Vaults muffled the pull of the Relics so that the Grimm couldn't sense them, or the pull is miniscule in comparison to the emotions of people around them. Oz's decision to mention the fact that the Relic attracted Grimm was to point out that - under normal circumstances, their plan would have worked. Ren and Jaune masked the negative emotions of the people and the Grimm would leave them alone - but the Relic's power isn't emotional so Ren couldn't affect it, but it would have stood out like a beacon without the negative emotions of the people on the train, so the Grimm wouldn't have stopped. But at that point the Relic became an X-factor that needed to be acknowledged and addressed, and that's exactly what Oz did. Again, not entirely Oz's fault - he made a decision based on experience and the circumstance as it changed.

I wouldn't call it wholly essential but it's a fun watch. Some Minor characterization for other characters you might like more is nice too. I'd probably pair it with one of the shorter early episodes though It's not going to make you LIKE Adam (nor does it try) as a person (as a character is more up in the air) It being an informed decision is something I absolutely respect either way.

Lucifer_Crowe

Nice! Can't wait with all the hype around this season 😃

Bethany and Ken

The thing about lies of omission is that the person lying often thinks they are doing this for the benefit of the others or the greater good. Ozpin told them about Relic when he thought it was relevant, which means he is not giving respect to Ruby and the gang. And if it was information that was easy to give up once needed, there really was no need to not tell them that from the get go. True they are young, but they are also doing things that normal kids can't do and have shown their ability enough at this point. 🤗

Bethany and Ken

Nice. Glad to hear! We weren't as disappointed with 4 and 5 as the community seemed to be. Binge watching it probably helped. 4 and 5 would've been better condensed into one 14 episode season, just taking the best from each season and cutting out the fluff.

Bethany and Ken

Not sure. We heard it wasn't essential and Adam is also a weenie so we are leaning towards no but open to hearing good reasons for why we should for sure check it out 😇

Bethany and Ken

Really excited you're watching this and will be happy to see your reactions -- I ended up watching the whole season last weekend again after finishing your Season 5 reaction vids because it's just a great season and I couldn't stop myself. I think you're going to get some answers you've been hoping for + an arc or two that have powerful resolutions.

Jennywocky

6 Is overhyped id go so far as to say kinda mid

Lyle Alsop

Ah yes, Volume 6. Time for things to get even more interesting. Can't wait.

dainbramage7

This is one of the GOOD good Volumes. So excited. I've been waiting for this one since V3

Erimgard13

The lamp is the Relic of Knowledge, 1 of the 4 relics left behind by the gods, as explained in v4. You'll learn more about it in the next couple of episodes.

No Volume 6 Character short to start everything off? But this is by far my favorite Volume. There is so much good stuff in this Volume, and it's really going to set the tone for the next couple of Volumes. Oz/Oscar are my two favorite characters and a lot of that has to do with the things that are coming up in the Volume. Bethany, you raise some good points about Oz's lie of omission and Yang's reaction in this episode, but just to play devil's advocate for Oz without giving any spoilers - Oz has been the leader of this group opposing Salem for a while. Until now, he's always had adults helping him, but now he's forced to rely on half-trained teenagers. And for reference: Ruby is 17, Weiss, Blake, and Yang are all 19 at this point. Oz is also stuck in the body of a 14-year-old with NO real training, and one of his closest allies (Lionheart) just betrayed him. Also keeping in mind - teams RWBY and JNR only completed one full year of education at Beacon - they've got a lot of "on the job" experience so far, but had Beacon not fallen, they would only just be beginning their "junior" year of school. He's got Qrow, who is loyal to him, and they're going to another ally - Ironwood - as their next move, but they have to get there first. The amount of information they have about Salem and the things she's done in the past is sort of miniscule. I don't see this as much as a lie of omission as much as it is giving them the information that he feels they need to know in the moment. Note that when they suggested breaking up and trying to throw off the Grimm that way, Oz did volunteer the information about the Relic. If he really intended to lie about it, he didn't have to say anything about the Grimm being attracted to the Relic. But until that moment, he didn't believe the information was relevant. He's thinking about keeping everyone safe because Qrow is literally the only adult there to help him until they get to Atlas, so I think this was more of a "if I don't tell them this, they won't worry, and that will give us more of a chance to make it to Atlas", since Grimm are attracted to negative emotions, and worry / fear definitely fall in the category of negative emotions. I like Yang, but one of my biggest issues with her character post-Beacon is how demanding and inflexible she can be at times. She has been dealing with everything related to Salem for less than a year, since she spent most of a year recovering from Beacon - she only got involved again when she went to find Ruby and decided to go to Raven for help. Had she not done that, Raven couldn't have planted those seeds of doubt. (To be fair, it might have also taken Weiss a lot longer to escape / rejoin if Yang hadn't shown up.) She was also very cold and still angry about Blake running away and didn't stop to try to see it from Blake's POV until Weiss forced her to. Her words to Weiss were "What if I needed her (Blake) here for me?" Even in the final scene when they were all reunited, Yang was the last one to welcome Blake back into the group, which shows that she still wasn't fully accepting of Blake's reasoning / POV at the time she ran. And yes, I agree that Yang has trauma of her own to work through, but she still rubs me the wrong way at times. Otherwise, great reaction - can't wait to see more next week! And have a Merry Christmas!

Megan Saunders

Oh man, the next few weeks are going to be a wild ride, Volume 6 was where a lot of the fandom felt the show really regained its stride after Volume 3's ending and as you've seen - it hit the ground running. The fight choreography is back up to a high standard, the new Grimm we get in Volume 6 are all terrifying in their own ways, and the plot development in this Volume is some of the deepest in the series.

Inifus

ooo I Can’t wait for the Next couple episodes 👀😵‍💫🤯

Craig Reichhold

There is a character short for this volume for Adam. After that, 7, 8, and 9 have no strings attached. Hope this helps :)

Serpent King

So glad that you're starting volume 6! I loved hearing Bethany's thoughts on Blake and Yang's relationship. She was very accurate. Blake is very focused on Yang pretty much all the time. She wants to help and be there for her as a way to make up for everything. As well as prove that she won't abandon her again. Unfortunately it isn't something that can just be fixed that easily. Like Yang said, it's just gonna take some time before things are back to normal. But you can tell that Yang is still happy to have Blake back in her life. Volume 6 has a lot of great plot twists and fantastic character development. So buckle up, can't wait to see you continue this volume!

Bryan Forquer

Yeah just based on the discussion for this episode I think it's gonna be a blast for them.

Lucifer_Crowe

Will you be doing the Adam Short at all?

Lucifer_Crowe

man seeing you guys care so much for the characters in this show like they are your daughters just entertains me i just imagine when you guys react to jujutsu kaisen the characters and the story and action are chef's kiss

Halibel

So that bag that Ruby had. The contents are never revealed, but the RT commentary for the Volume reveals that they were friendship bracelets for Team RWBY (at least that is what I have heard about it. I didn’t get into RWBY until very late Volume 9, so anyone else can confirm that…pls).

Shadow Drivver

Ozpin is a very complicated character and we love him for that. This volume is great and I loved seeing your questioning faces during multiple parts of the intro. Can’t waaaiit!

freshyjazzy12 .

Think you'll really enjoy this one, a lot gets revealed this volume, some of the best fights in the series, and some character development.

Historia-Europa
