I'm not entirely certain, but I feel like it gets explained somewhere that Desmond was fighting Juno's will when he touched the apple and Juno showed him proof of Lucy's betrayal and what she would end up doing and how it would be disastrous for the entire planet. So Desmond was kinda forced but he also consciously made the decision to kill Lucy.

This plot will be relevant in Revelation's ending and beginning of AC3. Other than that, thanks for checking out Cristina's Memories, many people seem to forget about these side missions, but personally I believe they're worth experiencing. I went through Drake Platinum's Assassin's Creed Revelations - All Cutscenes video and I recommend sticking to this creator if you're willing to do it, because as I said in a previous comment, he includes almost all relevant scenes in the games, just like he did with Brotherhood: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zWbxctg90gU
