I remember when this show first came out people were theorizing that Amon was actually Aang because Aang was the only one who could take bending powers away. There was so much debate back then and it goes to show how well the writing is for this season and how well written of a villain that Amon is. I'm lowkey not surprised Bethany got that prediction right because you know what they say about a woman's intuition lol

2024-12-10 18:33:42 +0000 UTCDisrespectful though it is, the giant Amon mask on Aang's statue is pretty metal. "Time for your Little Mermaid moment." I laughed far harder than I should have at this. Man, I always, somehow, forget how unnerving the bloodbending training scene is. I actually forgot Bethany called it. Very well done. I believe that, much like how chi blocking temporarily takes bending away, Amon uses bloodbending to sever some connection, maybe in the brain, that allows the bending. Like how a clot in a specific location can disable a part of the body, he bent some part of them to moreso disable than remove.

The backstory of Tarrlok and Amon/Noatak is definitely said and definitely humanizes them a bit which I always appreciate. My favorite villains are the ones that have depth and relatability to them. Even Hiroshi Sato is relatable because he is fueled by revenge due to the loss of his wife. That is a road Mako and Bolin could have gone down as well but thankfully they didn't. When I first watched this show I knew that Amon's method of taking away bending wasn't the same as Aang's ability to energy bend because he got that from a Lion Turtle and Amon is DEFINITELY not worthy of such a gift from a Lion Turtle lol. I just never pegged it as bloodbending. Kudos to Bethany!! You were able to consider crazy theories that I never could lol. Just in case you didn't catch it: Commander Bumi is not King Bumi from ATLA, this is Tenzin's big brother/Aang's eldest son but I think you'll still like him lol. I am looking forward to the season finale on Friday! It's one of my favorite episodes of the whole series!
