Seeing Clive be revealed at the game awards for Tekken 8 was a dream come true FF16 is my 3rd favorite game of all time and I already accepted that someone like Tifa/Kiryu would’ve gotten in instead and after buying the game just for him he feels so fun to play and his moveset is some of the most gorgeous to look at as you already saw and having FF16 music in Tekken now is always a joy and I humbly request if you ever do check out an FF to play let it be this one as I know you guys played DMC 5 and just wrapped up Asura’s Wrath and this game has the best of both worlds while also taking heavy inspiration from Game of Thrones and just being accessible to anyone with its combat as this was the first true action game for many fans and having a banger soundtrack I’m 99% sure you guys would really enjoy it and your reactions to the insane things that happen in that game would be legendary. P.S. the game also does have a demo available in case you want a little taste of what the game is like before you commit

I’m not much of a gamer, so I haven’t played a whole lot, but the ones I have played didn’t let me.

Most games don't let you pet the animals? Idk man, I feel like I've seen so many games within the last 4 years that either have achievements dedicated to petting animals and/or advertising that you can on social media.

I will side with JT on you guys checking 16 first as a Final Fantasy intro. 7 Remake is the most popular one but that mostly attributed to those that played the original and know the material very well. 16 as far as I’ve heard, has the most fun gameplay and best part, for you two specifically I’m very certain, the wolf is your combat buddy. And you can pet it. Most games don’t do that nowadays.

The reception to Clive is…….. at most, controversial. At minimum, polarizing. Because a lot of the Tekken community wanted Tifa to make it into the game since she is a martial artist in her own right. But the want didn’t really start until like the tail end of Tekken 7 when they had a whole slew of guest characters. And because of that, people kept spamming Harada to bring Tifa into Tekken and he probably couldn’t do it fast enough when Tekken 8 had to be released. Not to mention Clive was already in the works, so a lot of fans were going to angry either way. I still have hope that Tifa can still be in. Since they specified franchises don’t have to represented by just 1 character. But I also don’t see getting Tifa as easy since Square Enix are very protective of their IPs. Especially anything related to their golden child, Final Fantasy 7.

Clive was actually in development for Tekken 8 for 2 years. Because the developers of FF16 are big Tekken fans and Harada really likes the Final Fantasy games and really likes Clive when he first saw him. Not to mention that Clive actually has a similar with Jin, where both of are on a redemption arc. They put a love and effort into making sure his moves and personality were faithful to the source material. Every move he’s done is something he can do in his own game.

Tekken at this point in time has 6 guest characters throughout its entire lifespan. And the only games that had them are 3, 7, & 8. One of them Tekken 7 which not only had Geese (King of Fighters), Akuma (Street Fighter), & Negan (Walking Dead). But also Noctis who is from Final Fantasy 15. The first guest character of the Tekken franchise that popped up in Tekken 3 is actually a little orange T-Rex from a popular manga at the time called “Gon” which is his name. The series is about the little dinosaur just living his life and messing with all sorts of animals.

AlexThat200

Everything they said but my reason for wanting ya'll to play FF16 is because, well, I just *really* love that game.

Multxverse

while i cant say for tekken 6 but in tekken 7 they also had a final fantasy character which was noctis from final fantasy 15

Since it’s been a point of contention over on YT, I just wanted to leave my two cents here on which Final Fantasy you should start with (I don’t trust people to be chill outside of Patreon). I think that Final Fantasy 16 would probably be the best starting point all things considered. As you saw from the State of Play you checked out a while ago, it was practically made for players like you two in mind. The Games of Thrones-esque story/setting, cutscenes, lore, easier difficulty options, and ability to pet a dog for most of the journey are pretty much everything I feel you two would love in a game. I understand that you want to get the ball rolling on FF7 Remake/Rebirth bc of all the other content surrounding it (i.e. Death Battles, FF7 Machinabridged, etc), but here’s the thing with doing that: Many parts of FF7 Remake and Rebirth’s story are written in a way that assumes you’re at least somewhat familiar with the story of the original. You could appreciate a majority of it w/o knowing of the original, but not anywhere near as much. While it’s labeled as a “remake”, it would be more accurate to call it a soft reboot. Now that being said, I’m not sure if you guys would vibe with playing OG FF7 yourselves since some parts of the gameplay can be tedious for casuals and it doesn’t have voice acting. What’s more, is that it’s not just OG FF7 that they pull from, but also FF7 Crisis Core and Advent Children (an FF7 film). Just wanted to mention this because you’ll likely get confused on certain story beats in Remake/Rebirth, and you may not be able to “fully” appreciate the story and characters as much as if you opt to experience the original in some way first. I get that experiencing things “in order” isn’t always the priority on the channel, but you only get one chance to have a first FF7 journey, so why not make it the best it can be? But hey, that’s just me. At the end of the day, it’s your call on what’s the best way to start Final Fantasy. I’ll roll with any entry that gets chosen first. Knowing us FF fans, people are gonna have something to say regardless.
