🤣🤣 very true! Chaos would be unavoidable

Chibi_Witch888

To be fair, Winter should lay off the sauce too. Don't need a drunk Maiden 😜

Bethany and Ken

Lol I did, my bad

Chibi_Witch888

I know I'm late to this, but I think you mean Willow and not Winter for the going sober part lol

Cory

That's the plan! In fact you can see in some shots it's listed as V9 episode 12. It had to be cut for budgetary reasons, but the goal is to fully animate it some day. Episodes 8-11 also had to be condensed down into just 8-10.

Erimgard13

Yay! Glad you got to watch this for the first time along with us 🙂

Bethany and Ken

MEH is so fitting 😂

Bethany and Ken

Hopefully that is the case because Raven is a cool character and we didn't get enough of her in this series. 🙂

Bethany and Ken

We do plan on checking those out 🙂

Bethany and Ken

yep 🥲

Bethany and Ken

Dang I didn’t even know this existed but it’s beautiful. It would be great to see this fully animated as the 1st ep of Volume 10.

This is so beautifully done & cannot wait to see it fleshed out one day, even with changes. The amount of dread & hopelessness you feel from Nora, Oscar, Ren & Winter is heartbreaking. All broken & lost, blaming themselves & feeling like they failed their friends. To then switching at the end to Qrow being optimistic, I love it. Qrow has always been our downer because he's "bad luck" but he learned from Clover that it's a matter of perspective. You can blame yourself for something happening because you're there. Or, you can be thankful that you were there to do something about it. I also LOVE seeing Qrow supporting Winter through her sobriety. They both went clean a couple of months apart at most. I was so scared after volume 8 that he was gonna go off the deep end & be lost again. We're lucky he listened to his niece. The scene in the jail is a tease for those who read the books & confusion for those that didn't lol. The 2 other people with Tyrian & Mercury are the antagonists from the second RWBY book Before the Dawn. They're both pretty broken semblance wise soo not gonna be a good time but they were defeated once 🤷‍♀️ I cannot wait to see what happens in Vacuo & how much from the books they show because it was pretty dope.

Chibi_Witch888

Thing is, Raven probably attempted to portal to Yang when the destruction of Atlas occurred and realized she couldn't. But stayed in Vacuo to keep trying to create that portal to Yang constantly until she finally could reach her. That's that connection or sense he was referring to. Because if a person she's bonded to can no longer be reached, then that sets off red flags for her. So basically it's Raven just trying to portal over and over again out of frustration and sadness. Hopefully we get that backstory soon. By the way, Raven's Semblance is called "Kindred Link" which according to CRWBY allows her to create portals to people she is emotionally bonded to. Which is why back in Volume 5, Yang mentions to Raven that she learned how her semblance works since her Dad explained it to her. (Yang: "You can bond to certain people. And when you do, you can create a portal that takes you straight to them.")

Mare

Yea, their name's are Jax & Jillian (wonder what their inspiration is 🤣) idk how much from the books will be shown but they're definitely going to reference it & have plot points from it. Them showing "the crown" & "no place for royalty" which I thought was interesting since he views himself as the rightful king of Vacuo. It makes me want to reread for a refresh.

Chibi_Witch888

A lot of that stuff is plot points from the After the Fall novel that follows Team SSSN and Team CFVY at Shade. They seem to want to start incorporating it into the show.

SavvySpark

this is the first time I ever seen this I didn't know this even existed and I watched the final episode of volume 9 live the moment it aired. that was soo long ago... it was great getting to experience for the first time with both of you :)

I get the feeling she can feel them out. She appears via portal in V2 to save Yang from Neo. She had to have sensed Yang was getting whacked around by Neo and quickly made an appearance in the nick of time to push Neo back, otherwise, she would’ve had to have been flying in the tunnels next to the train in raven form. Raven being in Vacuo now is probably because while she was with Tai on Patch, she probably portaled to Qrow when she couldn’t sense Yang anymore after she fell in Ambrosis’ area, and once RWBYJ appeared back from the EA, was when Raven could actually feel her connection again, thus going to Yang.

Shadow Drivver

Honestly the thing I’m most interested in if/when we get a Volume 10 is you know there’s going to be a conversation between Raven and Ruby about what Ruby saw in the tree.

SavvySpark

It looks like Tyrian and Mercury have arrived in Vacuo and are causing trouble but Ren knows about it. I’m not sure who the other people with them were

Hunter

I’m wondering if maybe after finding out what happened Raven would just periodically attempt to open a portal to Yang hoping it would work.

SavvySpark

Took me a while and several rewatches, but I think I figured out all the "team" abbrivaitions appearing in the background of the first shot of Winter's narration. Those are: SSSN (pronounced "sun") is Sun's team, consisting of himself and his teammates Scarlet, Sage and Neptune. CVFY (pronounced "coffee") is another intact team from Beacon - Coco (the girl with the minigun purse), Velvet (the weapon-mimicking rabbit Faunus girl), Fox and Yatsuhashi. EONR - Emerald, Oscar, Nora, Ren QRFJM - Qrow, Robyn, and her "Happy Huntresses" - Fiona, Joanna and May. BTW, recently found out that Robyn Hill is an allusion to Robin Hood (which is kinda obvious), and that the Happy Huntresses are the Merry Men, which is cool too. MEH - meh, who cares? Kidding) Those are Morrow, Elm and Harriet, the surviving Ace-Ops. Yes, Harriet made it with everyone, even though she might not have deserved it. Overall, this animatic is a great peace of work. It shows the great tragedy and despair, coveyed through characters' narration, particularly Nora's and Winter's, as well as confusion and uncertainty from accounts of Ren and Oscar. But then the tone goes up again with Qrow being optimistic, mural of Ruby inspiring people, and, of course, RWBYJ's return at the end. A persistent message that even though things have never been worse, hope still remains.

Maybe, but I don't know how she would sense their presence, I don't think that's part of her semblance. To me a strong emotional bond doesn't equate to a spidey sense for the people she is bonded to, if it does she hasn't really acted in it from what we've seen in the show. I would need the writers to explain her semblance a bit more. I'm more inclined to think that she's doing patrols like Winter because her talk with TaiYang and the possibility that Yang died knocked some sense into her and she's channeled her self-preservation skills into helping out and she ran into the gang while along the edge of the city. But that could be me being an optimist and hoping her character can change. We really need that 10th season so we can find out what went on.

Lady RedShee

Raven was technically the first person they saw

Coco / Team CFVY went to Vacuo after Beacon fell (see RWBY book, “After the Fall”). Good to see them show up. :) I love how this epilogue hits on so many of the familiar faces we missed in S9. The desert Grimm reminded me of Sandworms from Dune. Just today I saw a pic on FB of a man with branching scars on his arm left by a lightning strike – just like Nora! Ironic w/ Oscar recalling Ruby’s certainty and feeling not up to the challenge. He’ll learn it’s how he faces the future with doubts that will determine his measure. Ren had so many sweet things to say about Jaune, after their blowout in early S8. He’s trying to do right by Nora too and give her freedom to find herself. While Winter’s very responsible and self-critical, she’s being way too hard on herself here. Being the only Maiden actively fighting Salem is a heavy burden for her. I loved seeing Joanna and Fiona playing with the kids. Everyone’s been displaced from the Atlas dynamics that locked them in their old behavior patterns; who are they now in Vacuo, with no prior structures or expectations to lock in their responses? The big change is Qrow – “I’m actually feeling a little optimistic about things!” – lol! I love seeing this! His situation didn’t change – it’s still bad -- but how he FEELS about it has. I like Bethany’s comment of how Qrow had to honor Ruby’s sacrifice and legacy and pick up the mantle she left behind – this is exactly what he is doing. Thematically, the epilogue ties back to the Blacksmith’s words about Ruby’s impact on Little: “One small kindness, in one small moment, led to such a marvelous transformation.” Sending the message via Amity Communications Tower in Season 8 did not generate immediate rewards, but it has reaped huge eventual returns, just like the many kindnesses Qrow notes in the strife of Vacuo signifies the good in people and hopefully will generate future benefit. I appreciate the discussion of how “doing good” can embody a variety of approaches, not just the most obvious. At the end of the day, along with the practical results of intervening, one must be able to live with their conscience and feel like they intervened meaningfully to stop abuse even if it’s not a physical intervention. While there are times where I wish I had engaged more, there are times I did intervene (even as a child) and I feel like it was worth it even years later. Such memories are an encouragement to keep investing. Vacuo is the last refuge against Salem and the location of the last relic (aside from Beacon’s, which has not been found). Also – did Yang’s parting words impact Raven more than we thought? Raven sounded remorseful when she fled the Haven vault in S5 – and maybe (now, we see) she actually WAS. She felt Yang return to Remnant and went to get her. Maybe Yang’s courage reminded her a bit of the woman she used to be on Team STRQ.

Jennywocky

Maybe Raven just teleported herself to them first. Her portals open up from her location to the location of select few people she shares a strong emotional bond with, those currently being Taiyang (Yang and Ruby's dad), Yang and Qrow. My guess is that she sensed Yang returning and teleported to her, thus meeting Team RWBY plus Jaune. She them teleported them all towards Qrow, which is why they have appeared next to him.

Alexey Taranushchenko

I hope yaw react to the Justice League RWBY crossover movies, I liked them, just my opinion

Sol-Edge

This animatic makes me tear up every time! I eagerly await the day it becomes a full episode in Volume 10. Technically Raven was the first to greet Ruby and the others when they came back from the Ever After. That's Raven's red portal and she even looks at Qrow as they all walk by. This seems to imply she found them either at or around where they came back and then teleported them to the city itself where Qrow was. Who knows if they will keep that part in the actual volume, but I hope they do.

Lady RedShee

I thought the “Remember her Message” mural was so precious!
