Yeah that ape was mine. No way I was quitting 😂

Bethany and Ken

No I actually never played it. Probably just remembered him from something else we covered or last time we checked out this game 🤗

SLY COOPER WAS MY CHILDHOOD. I remember playing the collection with my cousins at my grandma's house, from late night into the early morning.

MB2k

You recognized more characters than I expected. Kratos, Nathan, and Dante were a given, but I’m actually surprised you made a Parappa the Rapper reference there, Ken. Played a bit of it in your early years? JT already covered your questions about certain characters, so I’ll just direct this comment about 3 particular fighters in this game. - Ratchet and Clank - Jak and Daxter - Sly Cooper That’s actually both the names of the characters and their franchises. Those 3 are considered the holy trinity of early PlayStation era. Most people consider Crash Bandicoot or Spyro the Dragon as the mascots of PlayStation, but I’d say these 3 still hold a lot of memories for those that had a PlayStation 2 and onwards.

HOLY SHIT I JUST CHECKED THE DISCORD!! ASTRO BOT FTW! Shame I usually can't make it to your streams due to time zone differences, but you can bet your asses I'll be following the archives with great interest 😁. Thanks for playing it so soon! Guess my glazing of it wasn't for nothing. ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥 I'm starting to think you two are rolling out this year's content exclusively for me 😂. Edit: After watching the first archive, I might have to bite the bullet and try swinging by next week. Could be fun! No promises tho. Also, a little tip: Whenever it comes to levels like the Ape Escape one, you don't have to collect ALL the bots. I'm rather surprised nobody let ya know when you were chasing that one ape around for ages (tho I don't suppose your pride would've let you skip him after all that anyway, huh?) Just letting you know in case you ever find yourselves getting genuinely frustrated ✌️.

Nice! Was lowering my expectations since we're here on Patreon (with less viewers), but I'm glad to be proven wrong. :)

JT

Probably not a lone fan. Gravity Rush is one of my favorite PS Vita games.

WarTalon

As far as Namco x Capcom's concerned, I'm fairly knowledgeable. Project X Zone not so much. A lot of the games there (including the Namco X series) have been living on my backlog for a while. Not for any particular reason, as I don't inherently write things off bc they're "too anime/Japanese" or whatever. Smash and PSAS just so happen to have a lot of my favorites. Sorry if that's disappointing 😅. If anyone knows the feeling of people not sharing their appreciation of niche games it's me. I feel for ya everytime I see you recommend those bc I know what it means to be the only advocate for such things.

JT

So that begs a question from me. What about crossover games that consist of stuff that’s mostly popular in Japan? Like the Namco X series I’ve been suggesting every Wednesday? Cuz some of the games included in those are very anime and didn’t really find much popularity in the west. How knowledgeable are you of those franchises?

AlexThat200

Love when you guys react to crossover games like Smash Bros and PS All Stars. As you can see, the opportunity to run wild in sharing stuff about so many titles I enjoy really gets me going.

13:14 As the (likely) lone Gravity Rush fan of the DnD community, I guess it's my job to talk up Kat's series of origin. Gravity Rush is a duology of action-adventure games that are unlike anything I've ever played. The games focus on using the manipulation of gravity to fight monsters, fly, walk along walls, and throw objects. The mechanics can be a bit awkward at times, but they're really cool once you get the hang of them. The OSTs are excellent and composed by Kohei Tanaka, the same composer for One Piece (the anime, not live action). The story and gameplay for each title might not be entirely up your guys' alley, but I'm still gonna drop this trailer playlist should you decide to check it out more. You two might be the only reactors I know that wouldn't just write it off completely. Trailers: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL7Wq-naHdAIVLsuu7psFO6BH9rvywbLri&si=X71ed_YnByw6CSCU At the moment, there's also a Gravity Rush movie in production, though I'm highly skeptical of how well it'll do the series justice.

18:36 Sackboy's from Little Big Planet, a series of puzzle platformer games that had a lot of cool sandbox and online community features. Was real big back in the day, though all games have either shut down their servers or been delisted from the PSN store entirely, effectively killing the franchise off. You could check out Sackboy's Big Adventure, a launch title for the PS5 that's a quality 3d platformer great for couch co-op. Not quite the same style as the older games, but still a good time imo.

JT

17:44 Unlike a good chunk of the games featured in this video, Sly Cooper is a series that I can easily point you toward. The first three games are all up on the PSN store. Need to get around to playing them myself.

JT

12:00 Nariko's from an old PS3 game named Heavenly Sword. It was developed by Ninja Theory, the same studio behind the DmC reboot and the Senua games. The studio's owned by Microsoft now, so I'm doubtful we'll see the series return (though they could outsource to another studio). Still wouldn't hold your breath on it. There's a movie that adapted the game a while back, though it didn't seem to review well. You could try streaming it on PS5 if you have PS Plus Premium, but I highly recommend against it. Game won't perform too great if you're Internet connection isn't immaculate.

JT

Nariko (the girl not the sword) is the wielder of Nariko (the sword not the girl) is from a game called Heavenly Sword, it was planned to have a sequel, but it ended up being cancelled. She's a princess made into a warrior after being born on a prophesized year where a male should have been born instead who should have led the people to salvation with the Heavenly Sword Nariko. Instead, she was born and her mother died, she was shunned by her people, labeling her as a cursed existence who was proof of the gods forsaking them. Even her own father didn't treat her like a daughter. To prove herself to her people, she trained to be a warrior under her mentor and eventually became the strongest warrior in her clan.

Pyrodragon3993

11:07 I know you were asking rhetorically, but I don’t see Fat Princess returning anytime soon. Mainly cuz of 2 reasons: 1) A majority of the talent that worked on the game went defunct a while back and is now working for Epic Games China under the name of a new studio. 2) Sony hasn't shown much interest in remastering/remaking PS3 games, especially more niche ones like Fat Princess. Doesn't really fit into their brand anymore. They don't really promote development of the strange and experimental type of games that they used to from the PS1 to PS5. Astro Bot was a step in the right direction, but we could really use more of it.

JT

6:22 Makes sense. These two are Toro Inoue (white cat) and Kuro (black cat). They're from the Doko Demo Issyo series, most of which has never been localized outside of Japan. Can't tell ya much more than that, as I've never really played/watched much of the series. I do know that they used to be the former Japanese mascots for Sony.

JT

1:52 Nah but the idea of pulling a chainsaw on Kratos is just fucking hilarious.
