RWBY Chibi Episodes 1-6 Reaction

This is my first time watching RWBY Chibi, I had always considered watching it but never got around to it. The part where Nora talks about how nothing bad happened to Pyrrha made me think of ATLA when they were like "there is no war in Ba Sing Sei" lol.

These are actually what introduced me to RWBY

At least you were setup for the heartbreak of Pyrrha. 😢. Love that Zwei is unchanged because he is perfect 😊

Never had cats but my roommate did. I'm kind of disappointed in myself it took so long to recognize where they were going with that 😝

😊

Bethany and Ken

As it should ☺️

Bethany and Ken

Thanks for explaining those 😀

I love how Chibi Zwei is just regular Zwei. He was already adorable so they didn’t need to change him!

SavvySpark

Nothing bad ever happened. Everrrrr.

So those black silhouettes which one bumped into Ruby and one looked like ruby are a callback to the minor characters from season 1 where they all just were black silhouettes.

So, fun little fact : I first discovered RWBY through RWBY Chibi. A reaction channel that I followed at the time was reacting to it, and I thought "Why not, it looks cute". Only when I reached Episode 6 did I realize "Oh, there's some serious shit that happens in the main show and I just got spoiled about it, better stop there and start watching RWBY". I binged all the available episodes during the following 2 days ( I think it was right after the last chapter of Volume 4 was released), and then I binged the first season of RWBY Chibi. I absolutely love it, it was originally released as a bright counter-part to the darkness of Volume 3's final chapters, but they still decided to do more seasons and they are amazing. Some additional informations : -The book that Ruby reads first appeared in the main show, when the girls were decorating their dorm, Blake was holding it and looked embarrassed about it. -The book "The man with 2 souls", while being an obvious reference to Ozpin, was also first shown in Volume 1. Blake was reading it when the 4 girls first got together, before they were assigned teammates, and described the story to Ruby after she asked her what it was about. It was a foreshadowing on Monty's part that he set up right at the start of the show. -Zwei's model is the only one that is unchanged from the main show, he's just as he appeared in Volume 2. -The fighting video game played by Ruby and Yang was shown in Volume 3, when Yang played against Qrow, and if you pay attention to the dialogue coming from the game, they're basically playing characters based off themselves (in Volume 3, Qrow played as a "soaring ninja", a subtle hint at his ability to turn into a bird) -Ruby was indeed reading a book about "Camp Camp", another Rooster Teeth show that lasted 4 seasons and is quite fun. In the very next scene, when Jaune walks on Ruby's cape, he's actually humming the main theme of Camp Camp, which is interpreted by Miles Luna, Jaune's VA and the co-writer of Ruby after Monty passed away.

Oh the shadow people are a reference to the background characters in volume 1

Serpent King

Nothing will ever be as good as Zwei tumbleweed.

I have four cats. I recognized the box joke before she even unwrapped it, rofl. ...Pyrrha *HUGS*

Jennywocky

that is what I was thinking too -- all the shadow extras in the background using the same models during the first season, lol. Meta joke!

Jennywocky

Tumble Zwei will always live rent free in my brain.

Pyrodragon3993

The shadow thing is a joke about how the tech and budget in season one was so low that if the characters weren't important they were just low res shadow clones on the main characters. That was until season/volume 2 with a better budget and better system. Chibi started after Volume 3, the fans needed something light to wash the taste of all that death out their mouths and this did the trick.

CMDRZero

The Shadow People was a reference to Volume One when all the unimportant background characters were just shadows to save on the animation budget

Super Fodder

YESSSSS!!!!!!!!

Sol-Edge

I think the shadow people was for when they didn't have models so some of the civilians were just shadow people and then some were the main characters like Ruby Blake as placeholders
